54 Yr Old Tired of Too Large of Implants - Kelowna, BC

I was always a very small person, late bloomer and always wished that I had more on my chest than I was given (32A/B) I had 2 children in my late 20's, early 30's and enjoyed the increase in bust size during pregnancy (34D) only to have them go down to 34AA after finishing nursing my second child, but luckily they did come back up to a 34B. When I was in my early 40's I had the opportunity to get a boob job and I was so happy to be able to get the boobs I always wished I had. My boyfriend convinced me to go larger than the 34D I originally wanted and being it didn't seem that much larger in cc's, 550 to 650, I agreed. After the surgery (Mentor saline implants) which went really well, I was wearing a 34DD bra which I wasnt too upset about, but it did add 5 lbs to my weight...Fast forward 10 yrs and I was starting to get frustrated with having such a large chest. I had a bad experience a couple of years after my surgery with a mammogram, the technician was not gentle with me and my left implant never felt the same after that..I have some pain that comes and goes as well as uncomfortable gurgling when I am in bed, sometimes making me think that it was leaking...the Dr. confirmed they were fine but to keep an eye on them. It is now 14 years since the original surgery and have gained about 30 lbs since then and my boobs are now 36G and of course alot lower on my chest. I hate shopping for clothes as nothing fits nicely anymore, I have to wear clothes that are technically too large for me just to get them to fit my chest or they are way too tight around my back which I am self concious about. Everything has to have stretch in it and I look at blouses but never buy them due to them not fitting across my chest. I also have deep grooves in my shoulders now which I never had before the boob job. I saw the PS a couple of years ago to find out the cost to have them removed but never found the extra $$ to do it. We finally had some extra money to play with this year and I advised my husband that it was time to have my implants removed as I was so self conscious of them and also what they were doing to my body. I made an appointment with Dr. Peterson (original PS who put them in) and he suggested that I get them removed and have a lift done. My husband wanted me to ask about putting in a smaller implant but the PS said it would be like putting a ball in a sock if I didnt have a lift. I was also concerned about having to deal with removing implants in my mid 70's, so at that point it was decided not an option in my mind. I also am not happy with my tummy, so asked him about doing a TT at the same time but he said he would only do the explant and no lift with a TT due to the amount of surgery all at once was too much. I booked in for Dec 8th for an explant and TT but did ask for a quote on the explant with a lift before I walked out of the office. I have been watching this site alot and the more I looked at the photos and comments of people having TT the more I wasnt sure if that is what I wanted to go through. I discussed with my husband about the TT recovery and he agreed with my concerns about it, so I called the PS office and changed my surgery to an explant with a lift. I am going for my pre op on Nov 19th and I am excited to get this all done.

Probably a great idea that you're not having the TT at the same time. I've read two reviews on here of gals that had total mommy makeovers in one "sitting" (breast augmentation and tummy tucks) and BOTH these women ended up with a mini tuck (much less work for the surgeon) rather than a full TT. One has had a revision while the other is having a revision next month. Check out nattyneedsanewtummy and freedomh20. I think Dr. Peterson has learned his lesson by not taking on too much surgery all at once. I think it might be too easy for him to cut corners and not enough skin when he gets tired from taking on too large of a task! Good luck!!

I am having a reduction with a lift and I asked about a tummy tuck because I have a scar and my stomach hangs over it. You can see the scar in light colored pants and in a bathing suit. My PS said I don't need a tt, I just need the scar revised and a little lipo. We are waiting for my insurance to approve it. He thinks they will cover both. I called them today and they said I will have a reply on Monday. Prayers please. I can't pay it all myself.

Oh, and he said that the reason my stomach hangs over the scar is because of keloids. The scar is attached by scar tissue to the stomach muscle. Here I thought it was just that I am fat.

I had a c section with my first child and that is where my fold is and my belly hangs over...I do a desk job and with the peri menopause, my body just isnt aging nicely....but for the cost of the TT I can put alot of time and money into a personal trainer and get myself into better shape, which I need due to the desk job...that is my goal once this surgery is all finished....I can do some jumping jacks and maybe try running again!!

Your fold may be due to the scar attaching to the muscle. Good that you are trying exercise!!

I had a full-on mommy makeover with implants, lift, tummy tuck, muscle repair, and lipo all at once. Looking back, I cannot believe I did all that at once and survived. I kind of think, just based on reading forums and reviews, that some PSs are moving away from these mega-surgeries because of the risk to the patient as well as probably a higher potential for dissatisfaction.

Anyway, I wish you the best with an explant and lift. I think you'll look great!

Thanks...I also wonder if it is a cost thing for them as well though...make more money with more surgeries...my PS has a surgery fee of @ $2500 then the anaesthetist fee is on top of that...loses out on all that extra if all done at once

I am so excited for you that you have decided to make this journey. I am 3 weeks post op from my explant and lift and I could not be happier with my decision. I also toyed with the idea of just replacing with a smaller implant but like you, I did not want to have to worry about going through this all over again. Implants = maintenance, natural = finally free of it all! I'm looking forward to following your journey. Thank you for sharing!

I am pending the same thing. Waiting to hear back from the insurance company if they will pay for it.

I should clarify that I am going for a reduction which includes a lift. The insurance requires a certain amount of tissue be removed so I may end up smaller than I want to be, but I'm over these big things.

Haha, I just cracked up at your Hooters picture! Just looking at your bra, I honestly think you're larger than a 34G! And yeah, once you get into those sizes, there's no such thing as a pretty bra. Keep us posted!

im 50 and had an explant and lift done in june. i absolutely hated it. i knew i needed to have my 30 yr old implants out and have my 'rocks in socks' lifted back up to my chest thought i would love being 'small'. i went from a 40ddd to a 40c. but as the weeks went by i hated the way i looked. so i went back in and had implants placed 600hp which sounds like alot but when theyre under the muscle you no longer have the rocks in socks everything is lifted and i look quite normal. better than that i feel curvy again.
hope it all goes well for you!

Pre Op today!

Looking forward to getting all the info on my surgery today....seemed like this day would never come! I am excited but concerned about the surgery, in my previous surgeries, the first 24 hours post op I have to stay dead still or I vomit. They told me last time to take some pill & it wouldnt happen, but it did...another reason as to why I decided against the TT as I was afraid of the damage I would do to all the work done...I am in a private clinic getting this done, so they want you out as soon as they can see you are fine, it would be better if I could stay overnight and avoid all the ugliness of the anaesthetic hangover!
