It has taken me a while to write this review because I don't even know where to start. I was raised in the plastic surgery industry having a plastic surgeon in the family many years ago. I felt very confident in my research to find the perfect surgeon. I am a mother of three; two of them being twins. My third came only 22 months later. My stomach was a wreck. I carried my twins to 35 weeks, and my daughter full term. My twins were 5 1/2 lbs a piece, so one can imagine how large I was. I had a lot of extra skin, and stretch marks galore. I researched for about a month reading reviews, asking neighbors and other doctors, and reading backgrounds on every surgeon in my area. Dr. Basu was, hands down, the absolute only doctor I would allow to operate on me, and he is the only plastic surgeon I would recommend to operate on anyone I care about. His office staff is fantastic. I was nervous going into my consultation, and my husband wasn't sold on the idea. After speaking with Elizabeth, we were both put at ease right away that Dr. Basu would not perform a tummy tuck on me if he felt I was not a good candidate for the procedure. Surprisingly, some doctors will do it even if they don't feel you will be happy with the results..just for the business. Dr. Basu spoke to my husband and me for quite a while (I think we must have had 100 questions for him), and he never made me feel rushed. He explained everything to us in a language we could understand. I knew after that consultation that he was the doctor for me. My surgery went very smoothly. Not only did the nurse give me my IV in my arm, which is virtually painless (just like giving blood), but having surgery in his surgery center is like being in a luxury hotel! I wasn't in a pre op room next to someone ill, and I wasn't surrounded by people I didn't know. Abby was with me from the moment they took my mother and me back to my pre op room until she (Abby..herself) wheeled me down to the car. They kept me 100% comfortable the entire time, and my pain was very manageable. I am almost 3 weeks out, but from what I can tell, I am thrilled with the results!

One thing that was super helpful for me during my recovery was I wore boy-short panties so hold the drains. It may sound weird, but they really made it more comfortable so I didn't have these two big drains just dangling there. I underestimated how painful repairing my muscles would be, but this was manageable with pain medicine. In hindsight, the only thing I think I did wrong was I did not accept enough help with my kids, which probably prolonged my recovery. Having little kids, I have to be hands-on constantly, and even giving them baths ended up being really difficult for me (leaning over). I wish I had accepted all of those sweet text messages from my friends offering to help with the kids. Other than that, I cannot think of one thing I would do differently. I'm not the perfect patient, but Dr. Basu and his staff prepared me very well, and they were there to support me after.

Good idea with the boy shorts....

Oh yes, the life of a mother.  We never accept the help we really need and always try to do everything ourselves.

Almost 6 weeks out!

It has been almost 6 weeks since my procedure, and I am more and more amazed every single day by how fantastic my tummy looks. My muscles are still sore, but only if I cough or sneeze. Otherwise, I am totally pain free, and have been for a couple of weeks now. I did experience a little problem healing in one very small area of my incision, which was due to me continuously pulling and tugging on the compression garment. I rubbed an already weak area (because of it's location) and had slight irritation. I hardly consider this a set back, as it was taken care of very quickly. In fact, when I noticed the irritation, I sent an email to the office manager with a photograph of the spot on a Saturday evening in hopes that she would contact me first thing Monday morning. Not only did she respond to me within minutes of me sending the email reassuring me that she received the email, but she forwarded the image to Dr. Basu. This impressed me enough, but then I get a phone call (this is all within 10 minutes of me sending the email) from Dr. Basu himself, on a Saturday night, reassuring me that the irritation is nothing to worry about, advising me on how to treat it until I could get in to see him. I already had an appointment scheduled for the next week, but he even offered to drive to the office closer to where I live and see me sooner if I that would make me feel more comfortable. I saw him in his med center office later that week, and my issue was quickly resolved. Something else that I think should be noted is on Christmas Eve, I had an appointment and had to take my twin 4 year old boys with me as my husband stayed home with my sick daughter. At one point, I think every female in the office ended up in my room just to meet and talk to my sons. As a mother, that meant the world to me. When it came time for me to undress (I still try to hide the scar from the kids as it may alarm them), the ladies in the office took time out of their already busy schedule to draw pictures and play games with my boys. Going into that appointment, I was just hoping that my boys wouldn't be an issue or cause problems. I never expected them to leave the appointment asking if they could go back and see their new friends again. I continue to be impressed by the knowledge and care of Dr. Basu and his staff. I am hoping to post photos soon, but my tummy looks amazing. It looks better than it ever did before I had kids. Every day I look in the mirror and cannot believe this is my body now, and I know I'm still swollen a little bit. I am looking forward to swim suit shopping for the first time in my life.

11 weeks out…pics finally!

I am 11 weeks post TT and still so amazed by the results. I'm finally posting my pictures. I still wear my compression garment when I am at home, so disregard the red marks on my skin. That is from me likely wearing it too tight which I know I shouldn't do.
I couldn't be happier with my results from Dr. Basu! This was one of the best decisions I've made in years!!
