after 17 years of implants I'm trying to decide between removing and replacing or just removing . I'm in pain 50% of the time due to a capsular contracture and my implants are too big for my life now.
I had a consult with one Dr and I have another consult with a different DR on Friday, I don't know what I want to do, I'm afraid of looking bad, I'm 36 yrs 140lbs. Before implants I was a C cup, had a baby then got implants, I was 19. Then I had another baby and had new implants put in. Basically my entire adult life I've had implants...and I've had them for so long I don't know if I'll like my chest without, at the same time I'm tired of having surgery, over the yrs I've had 3 augmentations and a periareola lift. The last Dr I saw does not want to do a masopexy because of the previous lift he said it could cause nipple death. I don't really want a scar either.
I'm really wavering between removal or replacement, any thoughts? Any pictures from someone similar to me would help too, I currently have 500cc.

It won't look as bad as you think. I had my 320cc out 3 days ago. Feeling good. No more capsular contracture and replacements. Had implants for 40 years now 72 years old and free!

Wow how r you doing since your implants out. I just saw you commented on someone’s post but it was last yr. I just had my 350vc’s out 13 days ago. Had them for 18 yrs, and I’ll be 65 next month. I feel so much better without them. Don’t miss them or regret getting them out. Just praying my breasts fill in a bit over the next couple months. Left one got a little distorted in the process.

I had very large implants for decades. I can tell you my life is immeasurably better without them. Did I need a lift and some reconstruction - yes- but my husband loves this so much better. They are mine - warm and soft. Like you I was afraid of the unknown and really never thought of it until I saw the stories of the brave women here. Honestly making g the decision is the hardest part. I left myself the option of getting implants - smaller - after I healed from explant, but after feeling s million times better there was no way I'd ever consider that again. I have tons of energy. My joints feel so much better and I get sick less and better quicker. I wish o could show you a before and after of my face. I even look 20 years younger. You Aldo look 20 lbs lighter in clothes instsntly. I think ots normal to be a little afraid, especially when they've been a part of you for a long time. Hey go look at the tiny bra lettes you can buy - and no more giant ruts in your neck from swimsuit tops. You sti up straighter and perform athletically so much better. There really are no downsides.
I think when we were young we were led to believe somehow (and maybe it was Baywatch lol) big breasts made us better. I can tell you real boob's are better - in every way. Plus no more surgeries or complications.
Okay I'll stop. I'm just so excited and pleased to be free. If I can help you on any way of be happy to chat.

Oh and drs were worried about blood flow to my nipples as well. So I did the explant with capsule removal then six months later I did the lift. Blood flow was still a concern and my nipples were blue a few days but they made it. My PS used a special suturing technique to preserve them. It can be done! You just have to find the right surgeon. The Dr who did my explant refused to do a lift on me too. He wanted to out a smaller implant in. So I went for more opinions. If one Dr says no it may be he just lacks the skill to do something. Someone else may be very good at that thing.... keep getting opinions!

Thank you so much! I have a consult with a different Dr today, so yes hopefully he will have a option for a lift, if I can get a lift with explant, I'm more inclined to the explant rather than replacing with more implants.

So I was probably 34AA or A before implants, and after implants I was a full B. I'm very small boned and athletic. After 12 years I got CC in one breast and my breast got really large, maybe C, and I had to buy bigger shirts just to look okay. Trianna, I wear bras where I can insert my silicon or water pads. That works for me. I just feel so much better now and have better posture. The was the best decision for me. Good luck!

Hello and thank you for the quick response. I am also very small boned, 5.8 and only 118 lbs. I have a very small frame and only a 32a. I have CC in both breast and I am now having a bunch of pain in one. I was wondering how silicon or water pads do work out well.
Thank you again,
Thank you again,

I bought abc petite mastectomy bra, and it's great. Basically the have a place to put your water pads into. Basically need to find bras that have removable pads to slip water pads or silicon into.

I didn't see your question before. I'm totally flat so I buy bras with pockets in them and put silicon or water pads in them. Very comfortable! I don't even notice I'm wearing them. You probably won't need them as you are younger and you said you are b or c cup.

Big, ugly and contracted.
Here are the girls, I hate the implants I hv to buy large or medium shirts even though I'm pretty slim and I keep the strapped down with a sports bra most of the time under the shirts due to looking like a stipper , and im in pain on the R from a contracture. I have another consult today so hopefully I'll be closer to making a sound decision. BTW I did a Dr review on here, that Dr did not do these, I had actually liked his work, Dr Repogal in Colorado. These were done 4 years ago in Arizona, 500cc.

Where are you at with this?
Interested in your updates.
Personally I do not believe you will regret replant. You will be saving yourself a lot of trouble.

Decision made! Surgery scheduled! Explant it is!
So I'm going to share my journey on This site because reading other people's posts have helped me make this difficult and emotional decision. People without implants don't understand the emotion and fear involved in removing them, they are like "just get them out what's the big deal?" The big deal is what we will look like after.
About me. I'm 36, have 2children , got my 1St augmentation when I was 19 after the birth of my 1st daughter. I'm currently 140lbs ,5'7 with 500 cc smooth moderate profile gel implants.
So surgery is scheduled for Sept 26th.
I've consulted with 3 Drs and have obsessively read posts and looked at pictures on this site.
Factors which helped me make the decision to explant rather than replace are I've had 3 breast augmentations over 17 years , I've had 2capsular contractures and 2Drs have told me I just may be genetically disposed to them, so if I got a 4th augmentation I may end up with ANOTHER capsular contracture, ug that is the #1 factor I want to be done. 2ND is I've past the point in my life where I want really big breasts and i can't even wear cute clothes without looking like a [RS bleep] with my breasts falling out of the outfit!
The Dr I have chosen has hopes for me, he said I'm young and still have good skin elasticity so should bounce (;)) back well after 3months. I'm going to have explant with partial capsulectomy on Right, no lifts right away. Dr suggests waiting 6 months to see how they look and if I need a lift then I can get one. BTW he also said even if I decided to get new implants I still should give my breasts a rest and wait 6months after explant and capsulectomy. I really like his conservative and staged approach. I consulted him after reading his reviews on this site. So that's it, explant it is, wait 6months and then maybe a lift if needed. I'll post with pics ! Aloha for now!

Good for you congrats!!! That's def my advice, be rid of the implants! I cannot believe how uncomfortable and miserable they are! 2 yrs is too much for me, has changed my whole life for the worst. I don't know how you have done it for so long, but I think we can get used to anything even if it's really bad. I hope you're happy with everything post op and love feeling free! Congrats on making such a tough choice.
Thanks:)
