Hello, I've been lurking around this site for a few days now and I have to say first of all that it is such a great resource. Since I found out my surgery date is only a little over a week away I've been thinking all kinds of crazy questions...most of which I've found answers to on this site..Thank You!
I'm 41 y/o and 5'6" and 182lbs. I am currently a 36-38DD but I think that may be just because I refuse to go any bigger in size so I squeeze these girls in. I am also very active and have a zillion sports bras but only a couple that I actually use regularly that actually offer the support I need. I've wanted to do this for years but several years ago when I went a GP I was told I would not be a candidate for coverage as they were not shaped irregular or anything so I just plugged along thinking that I will always have these sandbags following me everywhere. Recently someone suggested I should try again and next thing you know my now GP had no issue referring me and then the PS says I was a great candidate to be covered. I am so excited, why did I wait soo long for a second opinion?!!
I know it sounds odd but I'm really looking forward to wearing a shelf bra in the summer. It gets really hot where I live and those granny bras are no fun in the heat.
I am very much looking forward to this experience as I know it is going to be life changing. The trick is to not drive my hubby and kids (two boys) crazy with boob talk in the next few weeks. :)

So excited for you! My surgery is on the 17th and I can't believe how hard it is to NOT talk about everything from what I'll look like after to the surgery to what the recovery is going to be like. I know I'm driving everyone of my friends and family nuts but I'm so excited!

I know right! I just keep randomly talking about it. Hubby is getting that glazed over look. Lol but it is so amazing to think of all the benefits coming up. I'll be able to hug my kids without smothering them, and go bra-less which is amazing in itself! So thankful I found this site and I can chat to all you lovely ladies rather than driving my family nuts!

so excited for your upcoming surgery..I had to laugh at the "boob talk" comment. That is how it is in my house..prior to surgery all they heard was I am so afraid..I cant wait..blah blah..Now almost ten weeks post op, all they hear is me and my boobs..and i always walk around airing them out!! It is ok..cause seriously it is about me and my decision..my back pain has left the building..i can go without a bra if i want too..best decision ever. for me it was a bit rough but I am 51 so my skin, and nerve and blood supply is a bit aged! but i am doing great..I also did not have an actual size and like many other women here, we just poured ourselves into something that worked..so just be aware that you may fit into those old ones after surgery..do not be alarmed..your size will shrink over time..but what is in my drawer is still in my drawer. I have learned to not worry about it, knowing i wasnt wearing the right size and now they fit properly..cant wait to see your transformation..

Thanks for the post Mamaish..perfect timing too as I was just thinking maybe I should clear out the old bras but I think I will wait now. I sure hope to end up in a C but we will see. I'm really looking forward to them also just being lifted...I haven't been perky since I was a teen lol.

Dollynomore...let me tell you the lift for me is the best part! The weight off of my chest is amazing. When i lay down i dont have boob around my neck..i can breathe again. Also having them lifted i am able to wear tops that have the band under the breast...and my girls dont fall below it...what a concept!! Yes i would say hold in to the old ones for just a bit. You will find that some makes are just gonna be too big..those you can trash..but remember you will be swollen and trying them on too soon can be disappointing..but one thing i have learned is patience..i am not a patient person..very type A..let others do things so you can heal...i cant wait for you to experience the perky too!!

Best of luck with the surgery :) It's all over so quick, you fall asleep, and it feels like you wake up just seconds later, with new, small boobs!

very true..... then a new, more manageable you looks back at you in the mirror. Hurrayyyy!

That's a fantastic feeling! I was so happy and out of it on drugs when I came to after the surgery I started talking to the new boobies, and then burst out in song, lol
June 10, 2013
Was your song "Hallelujah. hallelujah. hallelujah, hallelujah .....Halleeeelujah ? I think I may have sang that one on the day I got mine decorated. (see my posted review) lol

It would have been totally appropriate, but for some reason I settled on Eine Kleine Nachtsmusik. I think it must have stuck in the back of my mind from watching a BBC series - Mapp and Lucia - a month earlier. Two of the main characters used to play it on the piano. Anyway, hilarious :D I had the nurses entertained for at least 30 minutes before I came down.
