so everyone who has had a breast reduction this question is for u:) I just had my surgery about a month ago and I love the way they look and the surgeon was great, but the pain is unbearable. Dr. Said everything is ok and the shooting pains are normal but I'm so miserable and always hurting and in pain!!! I hate it and sometimes I don't even want to wake up cauz I know I'm going to hurt. Was taking hydrocodone but now just 800 mg ibuprofen and nothing works even used those nerve pellet things u get at whole foods nothing helps. Wish I could turn back time if I knew I was going to be in this much pain and the dr says everyone is different so I don't know when the pain will stop that's the worst part not knowing. Feels like it will be forever and I just can't take it. This surgery has taken over my happiness and my life hoping to get better and stop the pain soon:) anyone else experiencing this and if so how are u getting through it. I just cry sometimes for hours. This sucks nothing dr can do either cauz she says everything is fine no complications with surgery and they look good so it's just so frustrating wanting to talk to someone who's been through what I am going through now so thought this would be a good sight to find that thanks:) Cheri

Hi Cheri. I'm 5 weeks post op today. I can sympathize with you. I don't know if I have an angry nerve or what is going on but my right side hurts constantly. It is very hard and swollen still. My pain is mainly where my breast crease and my side meet. I can tell it is deep inside. Feels like something is almost twisted. I do not think that the ibuprofen is helping with the pain but it does help the swelling. I have had some relief with icing and applying heat. I'm not sure that this helps but I'm sure you are willing to try! Can you pinpoint where your pain originates? I still have some full pain under both breasts as I have openings at the junctions we are trying to get healed up. Take care....might try to massage also, I catch myself running my 'side boob' at work without knowing it (real professional right?)

Thanks for responding:) feels good to talk to someone going through the same surgery as no one else can truly understand unless they've been there:) most of my pain is the nerves inside they look good but on the right side the stitches stick out and I'm hoping it's just going to go down. I'm trying not to Medicate with anything to see if that helps with the healing. I will try the ice and heat haven't so that helped thanks:) I was a fat 36ddd some f's fit me so I was sagging to the waist. I didn't take before pics but my surgeon did so I will get them and post later. This operation takes a lot out of u and lots of different good and bad emotions. I have mostly bad days but I look at them and just love that my nipples aren't pointing to the ground anymore and they r perky and small who knows what size but they r small. didn't think this surgery was going to be this hard on me not sure if I would have done it if I knew but everyone keeps saying the light is going to be there at the end of the tunnel I'm told around 6 months.

I'm just reading this. It may 2015. I'm almost 6 weeks post op and I'm feeling this exact way u did. Just miserable. The pain is making me crazy. My boobs look great but hurt so bad I don't wanna do anything. I feel like I have sand paper in my bras and their so sore. Please tell me this gets better and when will it start feeling better.

I've experienced constant nerve pain since my surgery. It is a known complication but rare. The skin on my breasts feels raw all the time. Anything touching me -- clothes, water, husband :) -- causes extreme discomfort that I really can't tolerate. My incisions have healed beautifully, from the outside they look great. My doctor told me that after 4 months if the pain was still there that it would probably be helpful to seek pain management.

I'm almost 6 weeks post op and miserable. My boobs look great and are healing great but HURT. ANYTHING that touches them feels like sand paper. God I pray this doesn't last a year. I will die.

I had a terrible recovery. But now the boobs feel normal and I am so very grateful I did it. It took six months before I healed and about ten before I felt normal.

What ended up being the cause of your pain? Anything else other than the surgery?

The shooting pains and the itching was my main problem during the recovery and even now sometimes, but I had a trouble because it was my first surgery and I have a low tolerance for pain. Thanks to dr Goldberg and her staff I feel like everything is going to be ok now and am so grateful for all she has done for me

I am so glad to hear all got better- was so worried for you. I had mine almost four weeks ago with no pain but terrible itching that just abated. One of my biggest worries is that pain will start as soon as these nerves try to re-connect- I have heard you can go along fine and then it all hits months down the road. Did you undertake any type of treatment for your pain or did it just resolve on it's own? How far into your healing did it finally abate? So happy to hear you are not in pain and can now just enjoy them.

No I didn't have any treatment for the itching. The itching means it's recovering and it takes a while it may itch forever here and there I know I do but it's also due to the thickness of the scars and I still do get shooters every once in a while but it has been worth it and dr Goldberg is so understanding in helping with all your concerns and needs:)
