I've been insecure about my lips for about as long...

I've been insecure about my lips for about as long as I can remember, also my teeth. So at 24 I got the ball rolling and got braces, yes there is a mouth full of metal under these lovely lips of mine. I've got about 3 months left with them on. I decided a few months ago to make myself happy and get my lips done too! First I got 1 syringe of juvederm, I absolutely loved my appearance with fuller lips, however I didn't love the price (550$) nor did I love how fast they went away. For those wondering: I felt they were gone within 2 months. So that's when I ultimately decided the permanent lip augmentation was for me. I made my appointment with my doctor: the same doc that did my lip injections, he gave me options and I chose permalips. I chose permalips because the other options would absorb my tissue over time which causes size decrease. Well I'm not down with that, I'm a big fan of once and done. My whole consultation lasted about an hour, he then took a variety of photos of my face: completely natural no makeup/ no hair done/ not trying to impress anyone. After the consult I decided it was for me, so I made my appointment the same day as consult and received a nice chunk off my bill for doing so. I waited about a week to receive the morphed images of my lips to have an idea of my appearance post surgery/ post healing, I have attached that photo. Once I got the email from my doc with the image I responded loving it. Now my surgery is scheduled on January 12, 2017. I'm nervous and excited, but also fully committed. So here's my story and my photos and I will continue to update through out my experience!

wishing you good luck. your points in reference to lip filler are well taken. Many people say the same thing. Injections not worth it. Go for it and a happy new year,

Worth it for one thing: to make sure you like fuller lips before going big for permeant! And Thank you so much! And happy new year to you!

How painful was the process

I'd say it was the worst pain I've ever physically felt during recovery. The actual surgery is a walk in the park (thanks to numbing) but cosmetic surgery isn't for the weak. You're in for a handful of pain and there's no way around it.

Well again I'm nervous, today I will be getting a few things to help me through my healing, and cleaning my house top to bottom so I can heal and relax in peace! I'll report back later with a list of helpful items as well as some interesting obstacles I've been dealing with pre surgery!

Good luck! I was nervous too and everything went fine. I could feel a little bit of pain until a requested more dental block and then I couldn't feel a single thing! Feel free to do so.

As far as supplies I needed I didn't get anything and wish I was a little more prepared, I had to send my bf out to get things for me since I didnt want to leave the house. Some things I found useful where aquaphor to moisturizer, trident gum since it was tough to brush my teeth this was how I could compromise, ice pack (try to get one that is soft to comform to lips), arnica or bromelain (supposed to help with swelling), ensure or meal replacement drinks (hard to chew) or soft foods. Straws where also convenient but you have to sort of adjust the way you use them, as your lips arnt able to grip around the straw as usual. Oh and I didnt need any pain meds, all I used was ibupfrofen after the procedure and then used it every so often just to keep swelling down.

I'm young just like you and had similar before lips like you, and if your doctor is great like mine was, yours will look amazing! The healing was honestly so painful, not sharp but a constant aching pain that was more intense than I've ever felt before. So please brace yourself. Everything gets better in time and now I don't even notice that I have them. Just get through those first 2 weeks and you'll be fine
