I did post this already in a comment section. I had CO2 laser done approximately 15 years ago ( I was 47). I went to a supposed "top Doc" in Rhode Island only to correct some loose skin at that time. She suggested the CO2 laser so I trusted her knowledge and expertise. I healed okay, but as time went on I had and still have hyperpigmentation. The skin around my mouth does not match the rest of my face and it is just awful. I'm now 62 and I do not look my age until you either see me up close or in the light; especially sunlight. It's like my skin was burnt off; there are holes and wrinkles. This caused enlarged pores in some areas. I personally would not have any laser done to my face ever again. If you are young, it might not look like an awful procedure but I believe as you get older you will have a problem. Mine got worse as I got older. Also, my skin constantly feels dehydrated around my lips. The area above my eyelids still looks strange and itches. I have read a lot of posts on this already. I just bought a Derma Roller and used it for the first time last night. I am going to be patient here and see if this corrects or lessens my horror. I will follow up with my results to see if this works. Be careful what a doctor tells you. Sorry, most everything is about money and they are not always looking out for your best interest. I really wonder if they would have this done to their face. I still believe there are some great doctors out there and then there are the rest that do not fall in that category. I feel for all of you who have gone through this because it's very depressing to see your face ruined.

I'm so sorry that you have had to deal with this problem for so long. I had CO2 Laser about 15 years ago and I healed up nicely. It took a good four months for the redness to go away but I had no residual problems. At any time in the last 14 years, did you discuss this problem with Dr. P? Did she offer to do anything for you?

I too had my face ruined 7 years ago. Mine was after a Dermabrasion for acne not acne scars. I didn't have acne scars, but now it looks like I do. I was told the doctor who did the procedure on my face was a plastic surgeon. Found out later he was an ear, nose, & throat doctor. After reading what you have been through with laser made me decide I don't want to try that. I can so relate to what you are going through!

Seems like to me that people have the laser done and then go through natural aging with time and don't like what they see just blame the laser.. come on people are you serious... there are hundreds of positive proven results and there is not a doctor in this area of expertise that says anything but great positive things about laser skin treatments.. the difference between a 47 year old and a 62 year old is night and day With no laser treatments ever being done. Guaranteed.. we all get old .. stop blaming lasers or what ever you think caused your old look when you don't like it...

It would really help to mention the Doc's name as I am considering this procedure which seem to have worked for many people.

Actually, she is in Cranston now. It's not so much about the doctor as it is about the procedure itself. After going to my sixth plastic surgeon (trying to figure out what actually happened to my face), I found a very honest one in Massachusetts who said to me they did not know that laser could do harm to your face. She did say it caused my discolored skin, my holes and some areas with wrinkles and a big blue vein that became noticeable a year ago. Why: because laser actually takes the moisture out of your skin and over time these problems will develop (different for everyone). The plumpness in your face gets ruined. She thought it was really bad and asked me if the doctor was still in business. Pretty strong question. I do not know how far back laser companies/doctors knew, but obviously someone knew. The public didn't know.
