The Worst Experience of my Life - Vaser
I had Vaser Lipo and fat transfer in October 2018 with dr Deon Weyers and it was the single most traumatic experience of my life.
What should’ve been a straight forward cosmetic procedure ended up with me spending over a month recovering in a hotel (I’m from a different city) and that in itself was an inconvenience. At the consult I was explained of the risks of surgery but none of that prepared me for what I went through.
My procedure was about 8 hours long (I was told it would be about 5 hours)
I ended up with 3 rd degree burns on the right and left hand side of my abdomen, uneven lumps and bumps, a hard lumpy pouch above my pelvic area and black bruises as a result of burnt tissue underneath my skin.
This doctor takes no responsibility for anything and blamed my poor results on me ‘not wearing’ the garment.
I’m asthmatic and that was clearly stated before my surgery, the garment made it extremely difficult to breathe in but apparently wearing it is more important than being able to breathe.
There’s a hard lumpy area above my pelvis that looks like a pouch, and when I asked him why is that, he told me to wait a few months and then we can ‘fix’ it..... that sent alarm bells, cos only mistakes need to be fixed, not if you do a proper job the first time around
I’ve had to see another plastic surgeon back in my city to follow up on weather these burn wounds are healing and also for proper care.
This doctor said I’m the first ever ‘complicated’ case and he’s never had this happen to any of his other patients, I somehow find this really hard to believe, dodgy. My plastic surgeon actually laughed at that when I told him I was the first ever case of a patient being burned and ending up with skin necrosis.
After all the research I did to avoid going to a surgeon who would be sloppy and not give me excellent results, I still end up making a terrible decision by going to this doctor. I’ve been prescribed anti depressants now as a result of this trauma and I absolutely regret doing this procedure. My mom asked me, why did I pay him to disfugure me, and I felt like I should’ve been on an episode of ‘botched’
