Jaw surgery disaster - still have pain when I open my mouth

ORIGINAL POST

My Jaw Surgery Was a Disaster by Dr .Yigit Tiftikcioglu

It has been 10 months since my surgery, yet I still have a lot of pain when I open my mouth, and it feels like my jaw is breaking with crackling noises. I also had to be stuck in the hospital for 2 weeks because of an infection which caused by their sloppy post-op management. No professional coordination in regard to communication and proper solution. His tele secretary shouts out loud on the calls, which is not cool.

He does not take you seriously, Even though I clearly stated what I wanted pre-op. There was no 3d jaw assessment, no proper communication with my orthodontist, he keeps interrupting you when you try to explain problems and in the end I could not see the result I wanted, only the pain. I waited quite a long time for this surgery to be done, with lots of expectations and hope. However, this whole process just degraded my mental health and sucked the life out of me. I feel like I've been deceived.

I do not suggest this surgeon one bit, he thinks he is some of kinda overlord Dr who knows the best, but he is utterly wrong and cannot take any criticism, and refuses to correct his mistakes and [RS bleep] work. I regret having this surgery and choosing this Dr.

I am somewhat okay atm. You should double think before you book an appointment.

I am soo sorry you are going through this and sympathize as I am living with the result of a botched lefort 1 3-piece done by Dr. Sultan in 2017 that resulted in a major upper-jaw slant/cant. Recently I've underwent a 3rd surgery to improve the surgically misaligned outcome. My molars will never both touch again...and I'm stuck with another jaw deformity worse than the one it was initially suppose to fix. Initially, I was told it would take one surgery & I would be out of braces in 6 months. My first surgery was in mid-2017...and I had the 3rd surgery in April of 2023. Like your case, there was not much communication I feel now between the initial surgeon & orthodontist. The first surgeon initially said he would fix the huge slant but eventually deemed it "acceptable". I was outraged and a bit in disbelief yet was hard-pressed to sue since I wanted to get it corrected and was concerned it would be difficult to find another surgeon had I done that. I seriously feel that people that medically need to get this done understand that once these surgeons do what they consider "your procedure" that you are then seen as a done case regardless of outcome. Your discomfort or voicing the issues a surgically created misalignment has caused is seen as an inconvenience instead of them actually trying to help you. I now implore people to really look into other options...like the less-invasive TADs if your situation can be managed by it prior to considering surgery and to choose only surgeons that have a proven track record of performing those surgeries and disclosing/discussing what contingencies are in place in case an unforeseen issue occur like crooked/slanted jaw or some other major outcome.

My pain and stretching feeling in my joints has lessened on side of my face since last surgery but I still have a very noticeable slant. There were issues during the last surgery that was suppose to take 3hrs that ended up taking about 5hrs...to remove an out-dated 3D titanium plate put on by the 2nd surgeon Sultan in 2019 that caused my slanted upper jaw mid-line to now veer to left. I posted pictures on reviews that I have on here regarding what has been done prior to 3rd surgery from both previous surgeons.
