In a little more than a month I will be taking this leap and having surgery. I am terrified for several reasons. 1. its my face. 2. my husband will be taking care of me and not sure I want him to see me like this. 3. I don't have a long time for recovery. :(
I know that I want to have this done and seeing all the journeys makes me excited to get this over with. :)
Deep breath... it will happen.

I'm glad you are here and sharing your story. You're young to have a facelift...what's going on that you don't like?

Yeah I know- that is what I thought. Unfortunately genetics is not on my side... I have always had a double chin that drives me crazy and in the last year I have also developed jowls... at 41. Seems crazy and sad... in addition I am getting the dark circles under my eyes fixed.

I didn't want to ask your age, but I can relate. I had neck lift at 41 and now at age 44 I am getting FL. I think doing it in your 40s is ideal as you can heal faster and get 10-15 years, or even 20 years, of looking amazing during the prime of your life!

I too have hated my neck since forever! I have no jawline, weak chin. I got it from my Dad who got it from his Mom (Grandma) and I gave it to my daughter who is 26. I don't think you are to young to get that neck fixed, wish I could have done it a long time ago. I am a little jealous when I see these young women fixing their problem area now verses waiting until my age.

That is what I keep reminding myself. I have spent so much time taking care of everyone else. Now is the the time to really focus on me while I am young enough to really enjoy the benefits of looking and feeling sexy. :)

It is an adventure and I am sooooo glad I did it! You are doing something for YOU! Remember the surgery you sleep through It is the first few days that can be a problem During recovery you deserve expert care I had a home health care company that specializes in cosmetic procedures care for me after my neck lift and eye lift. It was essential to have someone with me the first three days Meds on time round the clock Meals I wanted to eat Ice and help, with bandages and stitches No worries about housework as I stayed at a hotel close to surgeon Someone I could ask for help easily Who knew what to expect during recovery Who could call doctor anytime and was trained evaluated my progress Who I did not have to entertain I needed pampering and it was wonderful It is more costly than staying home with an untrained Unfamiliar worried concerned person you have a relationship with Who is not aware of what and what is not normal during recovery Or who has other responsibilities besides caring just for you Please just consider it - I can't tell you how much I appreciate and valued TLC for you inc in Asheville NC who cared for me

I initially thought about that when I first started looking into this but my husband has decided he wants to be there for me with this. I think that seeing me all bruised up is going to be harder than he thinks. I am going to broach this with him again and see what he says. Thank you!

Hi, I am scheduled for surgery on 11-18-14. It is only normal to be worried, after all we are going to voluntarily put ourselves through surgery, which is not without risks. That is my number 1 fear, what if something happens to me? I did my research and feel comfortable with my doctor. At this point I just want to 'get it over with' so that I can begin the healing process. Keep adding comments and photos, I will follow you through this. Watch my posts, I will add lots of after surgery photos.

Hi Be You tiful, I am scheduled for 11/19 and plan to upload photos too (in the process of getting a smartphone for ease of uploading pics). Hopefully, we can stay in touch as we will be going through this together. I am grateful for Real Self and the support from others going through the same thing. :) Warmest regards, murphus

Hi kvincent, I am scheduled for short scar (vertical facelift), endo browlift, autologous fat transfer, and full face fractionated CO2 laser on 11/19 so it sounds like we will being going through this together! I had a neck lift done 3.5 yrs ago - at the time the docs said I was too young for a facelift. I think it is very normal to be terrified; if I think too much about it, I start getting really anxious. I think you will be very happy and you won't really care if your hubby sees you as you are very tired for the first few days. I think you are very blessed to have a hubby to offer to take care of you while you heal. :) I am alone so will be hiring a caretaker for overnight and periodically for the first few days - until the drains and stitches come out. I am planning to post some pics as well after I get a new smartphone. Hopefully, we can stay in touch. Warmest regards, murphus

I am curious about the CO2 laser and why you had that done? What was healing like for that?
December 12, 2014
That CO2 laser is what gave me the herpetic dendenritic corneal ulcerations and keratitis. It is something that I will battle the rest of my life now and can lead o blindness. Although, I read in as study only 7% of people get it after the laser. I really just wanted another chemical peel to even out melasma and acne scars, but my PS only offered laser and I decided to roll the dice. He is an artist and I really wanted him to do the FL and get everything done at once. He didn't do anything wrong, I was just one of the unlucky ones. I still would not recommend it. And this particular laser, CO2 Ultrapulse was really deep.

Let me assure you , you will be glad you did this. I'm still recovering from my Oct 1, 2014 procedures and doing well . I have experienced very little pain from surgery , mostly uncomfortable . I have begun to get anxious which is normal . Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing your results and progress!

I am very jealous of the "little pain" aspect. I still am uncomfortable and some times still am in pain.

May I ask how old you are? I think you look really young and pretty! I have a saggy neck issue. I'm only 32 but have prematurely aged thirty years due to early menopause caused by postpartum complications. I use Vichy products and they were amazing and gave me a literal temp face lift until my skin got really saggy....they won't lift up my neck now. I can't wait to see your afters!

Thank you- I am pretty young but I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago (induced into menopause a year before)... I gained and lost a lot of weight but the last 4-5 years the aging to my neck and face have really sped up. I was in a position financially to do something about it and I am crossing my fingers it all goes well.

It looks great!! How are you feeling about it? Oh I can relate.... I was thrown into early perimenopause at age 27 from insomnia! May I ask what type of estrogen and what strength you are using? Or what doctor you see? I would love to know what you are doing because I look 60 years old now, though I'm 32! My page is www.facebook.com/postpartumtruth

I am not taking any estrogen. Because of the history of cancer in my family they said the benefits weren't worth the risk. I will definitely check out your web page.
