Hi there. I myself preferred to pay a bit more than Maral and have a better surgeon who does the incision himself. I did not want to have nurses doing the whole thing - I have only one scalp and so many hair, so I did not want to take risks. The cost was higher but my peace of mind & the quality of the results matter more - I don't want to see myself with hair problems one or several years from now. Not saying that Maral is bad of course, it's just that he does not do the surgey himself, from what I understood - just supervision, and that's something I did not want. So now basically what you are saying is that you get a cheaper cost. I understand that money is really an issue. You are mentioning Transest. My question to you would be : who will be the doctor performing the surgery? I have checked their website long time ago and did not even bother to ask for a quote for that reason. There's a review here on realself which is positive but they state "there were 1 male and one female doctors and many nurses when I was there. name unknown. But very professional." I am sorry, that's an absolute red flag for me. I'm not having surgery with some unknow doctor - it could be their first FUE surgery, there's no way you can know. I did not go with Dr Maral and preferred someone else but at least you know that you are actually going to see him and not some anonymous doctor. So yeah, if your first concern is the price then go for the cheapest. Now if your concern is the result then choose wisely.
Valid points. I'd say that I've only seen one negative review of Maral out of dozens. I've read that if a patient wasn't happy he'd get it sorted out for nothing.
As for the technicians doing everything, I see what you mean. It's just that it's not heart surgery, it's a relatively straightforward operation, with a predictable outcome for the most part. If the technicians have done thousands of procedures and the reviews are excellent, I don't see an issue.

And also, the more people working on the implantation, the less time the grafts are out of the body...
Grafts will be out of the body for a long time enough to create a shock anyway so unless they transplant each graft immediately after collecting it, it does not make a difference. I see your point regarding experienced techs, and it is true that it is not heart surgery. But I prefer not to take any risks and go for the best guy. It turns out my surgeon is more expensive than low cost but still cheaper than some surgeons who are actually and ironically less experienced than him. So it made sense. But overall my feeling is we should never put the money first when it comes to our body. I eat organic and it is more expensive but worth it. I am healthier and in better shape than most of my friends. Similarly, I don't chose a doctor because he is cheap but because he is good. To give you another example, I have to have a rhinoplasty because I have a severe septum deviation. The surgery cost is $10K with a reputed surgeon in Europe, plus travel etc,and $3k with some surgeon somewhere. I am going for the 10k- need to wait more in order to save but I have read so many things about botched surgeries that I am not willing to pay less. Same for my hair... Good luck with your surgery!
Simontcor, did you stick with Maral Klinik? I know of two other Irish people who have great reviews.
I'm here a week and flew in straight from Maral Klinik to IST and it was as well run as you could imagine.
Good luck, in any case!

Well Simon, the reason I chose Maral was that I think it's far too much work for one person to handle. As a human being working with something as small as human hairs I'm certain fatigue must come into play in a big way in a lengthy operation such as this. I,m quite happy to let techs with at least 5 yrs experience rotate with a fresh pair of eyes each time. To put it simply, I value experience over education in this instance.
lcry what was the name of your surgeon?
never mind. looked it up

I'm sure you'll be fine. How much time are you taking off work?
I am at a similar point. Getting ready to go, just deciding whether to go in June or July.

You've made a good choice. I've no regrets about going there 4 months ago. Dr Maral is a really nice guy too. Check out his photo. He is a walking advert for his own work! Honest: ask him to show you his own crown work.
One word of warning though; you've booked 3 days there like I did. There is a slight possibility your op could get 'bumped' to the following day (as mine did), as they prioritise those guys who are flying in and out same day or next day and who's inbound flights get delayed. Its fair when you think about it, as they want to ensure everyone gets treated, but it might not feel like it at the time. But at the end of the day it made no difference as I just switched by sightseeing day and still had a day after in the Levant hotel to relax and sleep.
You'll be fine and glad you made the choice. Send my warmest regards to the green-eyed goddess (you'll find out :) Good luck
