5 Months later...

It has been 5 months since my procedure and I've noticed a large difference in symmetry. One part of my left flank has shrunk down to normal to give my left side a smooth and even look, however my right side is still inflamed and I'm sorry to say that its pretty obvious. I was informed that since more fat was taken out of my right side it would take longer to heal. On my 6 month check up, my doctor will look over it again to see if it has improved and if not I might need a touch up later down the road. I was also told as long as I continue to work out the skin and cells will shrink as my body tones but apparently my left side is more willing to shed weight than my right.

Ever since I was 16 I always wanted a way to get rid of the stubborn fat I've gathered around my thighs and hips. I am 24, weighing in at 140. I do moderate exercise, enough to maintain my weight, but I have never been able to get around the extra baggage. I have done A LOT of research regarding liposuction and where to get it for years until I decided to get it on the 13th of October at the FemSmart center in Irving, TX. They had a special going for $1,500 for one area. I decided to do the SmartLipo laser where I would be awake during the procedure. At first, I wasn't planning on making a review until after I got the procedure done and realized what a great experience it was so here is my review.

I went in to see Dr. Powell on the 25th of September for a pre opt appointment. The office was small but very comfortable and cute. The staff was very kind and made me feel welcomed. The rooms in the back were decorated very nicely to give you a relaxing feeling. The first thing they had me do was change and watch a video that explained what smartlipo triplex was and how it worked which I thought was very informative since I didn't know much about laser assisted lipo.

When I met Dr. Powell he looked energetic and had a very warm and happy expression. I was torn between getting my hips or my thighs done since I could only afford to do one area instead of two. He answered all of my questions and suggested which area would be best to do liposuction on when it came to visual concern, which were the hips or flank area. He also explained to me how the process would go on the morning of surgery and what to expect during and after. In the end, I felt like he was my best choice so I made the appointment for the 13th of October.

PROCEDURE DAY!!
I went into the office at 9:00 AM to prepare for surgery. They had me change and I took an antibiotic and two other pills to help me relax. An hour after, they took me into a room to draw on me and show me where the incisions would be. I have a huge fear of needles so I was extremely nervous when the numbing solution was injected. I expected it to be extremely painful but it was just a little prick but the actual numbing medicine did burn and hurt a little. After it was all done i didn't feel much at all, just tugging and pressure. However, there were a few stings of pain in areas that weren't completely numb during the procedure. He used the laser first to melt the fat and then sucked it out. It felt so WEIRD. The doctor and his assistant helped me feel relaxed during the whole procedure.

More fat was removed from my right side than my left. I think he said a total of 300 cc of liquid was removed. 150cc from my right, 100 from my left, and 50cc looked like fat mixed with blood. I was cleaned up and walked out without a problem and put on my garments. When I got home I passed out.

DAY AFTER PROCEDURE
I really didn't have any drainage the next day. I've heard stories of people having drainage soak through their pads and garments and onto sheets and towels but I got lucky. I didn't have much pain at all. The only pain I had was the tape pulling my skin so I was happy when I got it off. THAT was painful. However, I was so happy to be able to take a shower and wash all that gunk off.

TWO DAYS AFTER PROCEDURE
I started to get pretty swollen and that's when the bruises showed up. I had a big bruise on my right side where he did most of the work and that hurt the most when the garment was rubbing against it. Both sides were getting pretty sore so I couldn't sleep on my side at night. The next few days the soreness got worse on my right side but my left was looking much better. I feel so impatient.

1 WEEK LATER
My soreness has improved and so has the swelling. I was worried that my figure wouldn't improve much but I'm starting to notice a difference now. As for the pain, it was very minimal so I really didn't need the pain pills. I still have a long ways to go before I completely recover so there is a lot of room for improvement. I am eager to start working out and showing off my new shape. I will try to post pictures of before and after shots. My next checkup will be in November so i will see how everything is turning out.
