Cool Mini (Coolsculpting) Ruined my Lovely Neck - Irvine, CA

Only get it done one time! Do not let them talk...

Only get it done one time! Do not let them talk you into doing it twice. My neck looks deflated and horrible. I used to have a beautiful neck with a double chin. Now I look 10 years older than when I walked into that place. They actually have the nerve to smile at you and tell you how good it looks. I notice they only post pictures of faces from the side view and not front on...this is why!!!!

how was your result after the first session?
August 24, 2016
There was only one month between the first treatment and the second treatment, But at the time it was an improvement especially from the front view. If I would have waited a little longer it would have improved even more. But their standard procedure is to wait only one month after the first.

That policy is so wrong. The two places I went to waited 3 months, then re evaluated.

My PS office waits 3 months before they do it the second time, you need time to heal and for all the fat to die as well as get some elasticity back before the 2nd one.

I also had the CoolSculpting neck lift done with lots of pain. The worst part was absolutely nothing happened. They said they could do it again at an additional charge and I said no way!

Hard to see with out before pictures, but it looks fine to me. However, doesnt matter what I think, it's your neck. I do agree that it is better to do these things slowly so that you don't accidentally go too far.

The two vertical lines of skin that look like a V weren't there before. They are very aging.

Ah, well having a scrawny/tendony neck myself, I guess I considered it normal.

Went back to the Med Spa to see if they could do anything

They took more pictures of my neck area. In the overhead perfect lightening with the perfect camera angles my neck looked perfect. You could not even see the loose vertically folded skin. I have taken dozens of 'after' photos myself, in the car, outdoors, in my home, natural lighting, etc. and they look nothing like the frontal image of my neck that was taken at their office. And they refused to acknowledge that even though I showed them my own pictures. By the way, I did this procedure (cool mini) because coolsculpting has an 83% 'worth it' rating. But those ratings include every part of the body. Cool mini for the neck is just thrown into the mix. In fact, there are really very few cool mini reviews. This makes the 'cool mini' prodedure seem like it has a very high rating. I wish I would have known this before.
I am not going to give the name of the Doctor or the office yet. They told me they could give me 'radio frequency' skin tightening and it should be improved in a month. Which sounds promising, but unfortunately it is the ENDYMED 3 DEEP rf. That particular device only has a 43% 'worth it' rating.
I will update my review after the endymed treatments.

I'd suggest asking them for two complimentary tightening treatments as they convinced you to do Two coolsculpt treatments, the clinic I work in always offers a complimentary skin tightening treatment with each fat reduction treatment, as the face will always sag after fat reduction. Please be careful and make sure the technician does not go over your thyroid with the device. You should also do each treatment a minimum one month apart. They might want you to do it sooner to be done with you but if you do two RF treatments insist they are spaced a month apart, if not the results from each treatment will overlap and not be maximized.

Do not go to a med spa to get this done! It's not the procedure- it's the lack of knowledge on your provider's part. I'm not a Dr., but they should have warned you first about platysmal banding looking "worse" after the treatment, because you eliminate the fat, but you don't change the nature of those muscles with Coolsculpting. In other words, it may not be sagging skin, but "tenting" of your skin over the neck muscles there. They can use Botox on that. Skin tightening won't help. I suggest getting a second opinion from a Board Certified Dermatologist.

It is not banding! The doctor examined my neck...it is in fact loose skin! I know the difference!

Thankyou for sharing and so sorry for the outcome I'm 44 and have double chin ,I gaing 20 pounds and of course was thinking get rid of it the easy way ,but I had my doubts about cool sculpting and read your story and there is no way I would do it ! I knew with regular lipo chin you could get loose skin ,it's sucks when you expecting the opposite I'm so sorry for the outcome , :/ hopefully the tightening will help you ,blessing!

I would not expect any topically applied energy treatment, like radio frequency energy, to do anything positive for this. Unfortunately, the problem is deeper than the skin itself, as it is laxity in the superficial muscle of animation of the neck called the platysma. Those energy treatments won't be able to create any change in that muscle. I think the 43% "Worth It" rating that you have seen for this procedure is very telling. I would advise you to get an opinion from a board certified surgeon, like a plastic surgeon or a facial plastic surgeon, who routinely does face and neck lifting, as only they will be able to properly evaluate you and give you all your options to address this issue. Best of luck.

I had it done on my jawline as well. Every day I try to convince myself that it was somehow worth it. Maybe about 15% of the $2,000 was worth it. Basically the improvement is negligible. I can't tell and no one else can. Of course, the doctor thinks it is great. Not worth the money or the pain.

At the med spa today they told me 'of course you have loose skin' You have skin laxity. As if I am the one to blame for doing this to myself. And as if it is standard practice to have 'skin tightening' after this procedure.

That's really lousy! I'm sure not seeing any real raving positive reviews for either Kybella or Coolscupting for the neck. It's too bad you wasted your money...this review site is really making me take way more time to understand the whole picture before I spend any money. Thanks for sharing your story.

May I ask how many Kybella treatments you had, and if you combined coolsculpt and Kybella?
