A Gifted Surgeon and True Gentleman - Ireland, IE

Having seriously contemplated a rhinoplasty for over ten years, I finally went under the knife five weeks ago and it has completely changed my life and the way I look at myself. The journey began by researching many cosmetic surgeons throughout Ireland and thankfully fate led me to Mr Shandilya. For me, one of the biggest reasons I chose Mr Shandilya was the fact that when I spoke to other surgeon's assistants, I asked the question, "Do they do many noses?" I got the answer, "yes, they do a few." Well, "a few" just wasn't good enough for me. I wanted someone who did this everyday and felt passionate about the area they practised. This was evident from my first meeting with Mr Shandilya. He was passionate and fascinated by noses and about how they affect peoples’ lives. Within ten minutes of speaking to this man, I knew that I would be in safe hands. He made me feel so comfortable and gave me very realistic expectations for post surgery appearance. I decided there and then I would proceed with surgery, even though Mr Shandilya advised that I take some time to think it through. Seven weeks after my first consultation that I was in surgery in the excellent Whitfield Clinic. Even though I was completely confident in Mr Shandilya's ability, I was still extremely nervous before the anaesthesia was administered. I had a lovely anaesthetist who talked to me and reassured me continuously. Before I knew it, I was waking up in the recovery and it was all over. I had a nasal pack in and a splint over my nose to protect it and to help it keep the desired shape. I spent a very comfortable and pain free night in hospital and enjoyed an early morning visit from Mr Shandilya who then removed the nasal pack. A few hours later I was discharged. I was given an antibiotic, an anti-inflammatory and paracetamol to take over the following seven days. I took the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory for the prescribed period but found that due to the complete absence of pain, I did not need the paracetamol pain-killer. This was so unbelievable to me! Another thing that I amazed at, was the fact that I did not have so much as a bruise around my eyes. I didn’t have the expected “panda-eye” look! Not so much as a slight yellowing appeared in the days and weeks that followed. The week I spent after surgery was a very restful one apart from the awful itch caused by the splint and tape holding it in place. When I told Mr Shandilya later of my experience with the itch, he said that I should have text him to his personal number which he had supplied after surgery or contacted his secretary and I would have been advised to take an over-the-counter anti-histamine which would have eased the itch. The splint was removed on the 7th day after surgery and this was a very emotional experience for me. The nose that I had detested all of my life was, in seven short days, a much improved version of its former self. I was amazed at the result even with all of the swelling which was only noticeable to me and the trained eye of my gifted surgeon. I have since have my second post-op check-up and every day I am loving the new shape of my nose. It is improving in shape and definition with every week that passes and cannot wait to see how it settles into its final shape over the next 18 months. I am so thrilled with it now so I can only imagine how happy I will be by then! My only regret is that I didn’t do this surgery ten years ago. If I would have known how genuinely easy and pain-free the whole process was going to be, I would have gone through with it much sooner. I urge anyone who has been considering rhinoplasty to go ahead and get the wheels in motion. This is honestly the best decision I have ever made in my life and I am now so content and happy in how I look. The way I felt about my nose before surgery drained all of my confidence away and now I am just a more improved version of myself with a nose that looks like it finally fits my face.
