Well, almost 3 yrs since first going to orthodontist, I'll have had the braces on 3 yrs in February I finally got the surgery last week. Between the teeth extraction's, impression's having to being corrected I was probably a year longer than I thought for the surgery.
It has been an horrendous week of pain and regrets ( I knew this going for it), I cannot believe how bad the pain has been, in the doctors at the moment. Hopefully I'll feel different in a few weeks but it's been very tough particularly not being able to sleep with the pain. I am suffering with severe headache's , from the anesthetic, kicked in 2 nights ago. This also happened when I had hip surgery and appendix out in the last 5 yrs so I know that it will last about a week. They kick in exactly a week after surgery and last for 5-7 nights, always nightime, unable to sleep, unbelievable pain, but I just have to grin and bear it for the next week.

Stay strong!
Thanks, feel alot better this week, 10 days post surgery, Still struggling to sleep at night, pain under control with medication so hopefully the worst is behind me
How are you doing now? My husband had double jaw surgery and genioplasty on October 2. He is having more pain now. He was mostly numb last week. He is also older, being 56. The doctor said he had trouble putting getting the screws to stay in on the lower right side. They kept stripping out. He said that the inferior alveolar nerve took a beating and he doesn't expect it to recover. We are both very concerned about that. Are you getting sensation back in your chin or lower lip?

18 months post braces fitted.

Keep meaning to update, 18 months after starting braces. Was hoping for surgery in May but teeth weren't ready , unable to get surgery now until September- October due to work commitments. Teeth were in a mess as you can see in pictures, have had the usual problems that most of us older people have heading for this surgery, gums exposed, very sore after tightening, but realized this is the norm.
Will update newer pictures later, teeth have straightened as expected, had hooks fitted at the bottom but all going to plan.
By the way, wife very apprehensive about the surgery, she is a nurse and knows the seriousness of the surgery. She also knows I'm a bad patient being a man ????, chat soon.

Good luck i'm sure you won't regret it! I I know how you feel i'm in the same boat I have an underbite which for a woman looks masculine with a long chin I detest how people say don't go ahead with it! I'm sure you will get a great result :))
xx
Hi I'm from Ireland like you have been obsessed with googling procedure. I am turned off an Irish procedure because I thought they would not have the experience of a larger country. Please can you tell us where your dentist is? I would be do grateful to see picture before and after and what the treatment and after care was like. I am very happy to see an Irish person review on this site go on thank you for all the details so far.
Sorry for not updated earlier, how have you been getting on shaux?

Sorry for not staying in touch but it's a slow process waiting for the teeth to get aligned for the surgery
All has been going well, except guns are looking very exposed after all the tightening, which can be expected for older patients.
Also had a tooth extracted last week, have been in agony all week, had to go back to the hospital today . Suffering from dry socket, which I knew from googling my problem.
Up to my eyeballs in antibiotics, painkillers and difene!! It's been a nightmare week, unable to sleep so god help me when I get the double jaw surgery, being a man I'm not a good patient ????
Wife is sick of me already!! Imagine after the surgery ????????
