IPL Permanent Damages

facialdamageawareness
IPL (Nordlys) is an extremely harmful treatment that has severely and permanently damaged me. I have severe fat atrophy, scarring, indents, chronic inflammation and pain in my entire face and eyes. It has also triggered a systemic reaction in my body since damages are spreading. People should be aware of something called “thermal bystander effect”. Damages started over 3 years ago shortly after the treatment and has progressively just been getting worse and worse over time. This is a treatment that has ruined my life since I can no longer work, sleep or have a social life due to the pain I’m in constantly, a hypersensitive skin, and strong anxiety of getting a completely botched face. The clinic take no responsibly whatsoever even though damages are very visible. Manufacturers of these procedures aren’t interested when damages occur and will do everything to protect themselves and these horrible procedures. I’ve learnt the hard way how disgusting this skin / beauty industry is!

Heat and energy devices are extremely harmful and unpredictable, even in “the right hands”. These devices can be extremely harmful (fat atrophy, collagen depletion and scarring, nerve damages, chronic inflammation, eye damages etc), and can trigger autoimmune responses in your body and damages will go systemic. It doesn’t matter if you go to a “skilled” provider, there is no way of knowing how deep the heat actually will go or how your body will handle the trauma. Providers claim they can’t cause fat atrophy and are “safe” which is not true. You can potentially end up with far more issues than what you previously had and will forever regret having anything done.

Hi, did you post these pics on Nov. 11, 2024? I’m confused that it also says 2 years post; I am so very, very sorry this happened to you! I am going to take pics. Of my horrible scars, depressions in cheeks. I am light like you and have dealt with many broken blood vessels for years. I was ok with lower settings but dr. increased power and I requested having my cheeks done because I wanted quicker results. My skin is ruined and like you, I had beautiful skin. I just had photodynamic treatment for precancer and will wait until I can have bright light on my face. I must be insane for doing this but I was hoping it would reduce the scarring too. It’s safe & I do have precancers. I will post all the injuries soon. I went to the (supposedly) best cosmetic derm in Boston. There’s no makeup that can hide these horrible scars. I look much older from the vertical scarring and depressions. I won’t give up on trying to rid myself of the scars. I’m frightened of having anything done to improve the deep depression on my cheek. I grew my hair very long to hide my face. My eyes still look good so I try to wear eye makeup often. It’s so sad. I’m a victim too but don’t give up. I’ll post pics soon. and let you know if the photodynamic treatment has helped with scarring. It’s supposed to help. You’re beautiful! Don’t let the scars rule your life. I’m trying to go on and find a very gentle treatment that can modestly help.

Hi, my treatment was in 2021 and damages became visible around 2-3 months after the treatment and just got worse and worse. I posted my story here with pictures just a few weeks ago in hope of warning others.

I have so much fat atrophy, scarring, chronic inflammation and pain. I can’t even wash my face any longer because my skin is so hypersensitive and chronically dehydrated. It’s difficult to live a normal life when pain is so intense and your face and skin is so ruined

I’m so sorry this happened to you! How many treatments did you have? Was considering for acne scarring. TY

Only one as a “facial”. This was done at a professional clinic.

Please stay away from light/heat treatments since they can cause so much permanent damage. I would recommend people considering RF, Lasers, IPL to visit this support group on Facebook -> Facial Damage from Radiofrequency and Laser Support Group
