My Invisalign Experience
WORTH IT
I always had pretty straight teeth for most of my life. When I entered my 40's however, I started to notice there was a lot of crowding that was developing. I still have my wisdom teeth and they were wreaking havoc in my mouth, pushing against my other teeth. Although they didn't cause me any pain, they were causing my teeth to look unsightly.
Although a lot of my friends told me they thought I was crazy for thinking I needed braces, I knew I was not happy with the way my teeth were starting to look.
I decided to go for it anyway.
One thing that I was not aware of was the fact that I was going to have these Fasteners or "buttons" attached to my teeth to keep the aligner trays in place. I was not happy about it, but just went ahead and allowed them to be placed on my teeth. They were uncomfortable, sharp and unsightly looking. But after a few days, your mouth gets used to them. I also started to realize that nobody really sees them unless you point them out. Kissing and getting romantic can be a little tricky. And thise darn fasteners are like little hooks on your teeth and everything you eat will get caught on them. Yeah, it's quite annoying. Floss will be your best friend!
On my monthly visit to the dentist to receive my 12th tray, I was informed that I may need to have refinement trays at the end of my 18th tray because the two teeth that were most misaligned in my mouth would probably not be perfectly straight at the end of my 18th tray. I was so disappointed to hear that I may need 10 more trays of refinements when I thought I was so close to being done. I've come this far though, so I can keep going.
I wish I had been more thorough about keeping the exact dates of the pictures but when I showed the pictures to my boyfriend he told me that he originally thought I was being overly picky about my teeth and even thought it was a waste of money but he's changed his mind. :)
I would definitely recommend invisalign to anyone. Just realize that there are going to be times when it's frustrating but in the end, it will be worth it.
I will be sure to post more pictures of the end results.
