Insurance approved my breast reduction - surgery went really well

ORIGINAL POST

Insurance Approved my Breast Reduction

WORTH IT$16,999

Went for my 1st consult on March 2021. Insurance approved my procedure in May 2021. Dr Bates at PVPS did my breast reduction on 7.13.21. Insurance required 750 grams be removed from each breast. He took 755 from one and 759 from the other. I started eating strictly keto to lost 20 lbs before surgery. At my consult in March I was 235, by my surgery day I was 213-215.

Surgery went really well. It was expected to last 4 hours, but it was done in 3 or 3 half hours. I could not have guest with me because of covid restrictions. Feel free to ask questions. Background: 4 children; 38 years old; Wish I would have done this sooner. I plan to have a tummy tuck the end of Feb 2022.

Did you get approved the first time they submitted the breast reduction surgery request ?

Yes. My consult was March 4. The office called me back on May 17 and told my insurance approved the procedure. They wanted 819 grams per breast removed. But I lost 20 lbs before surgery day and the surgeon was told by the insurance to remove 750 pre breast. From a 38DD to about a 36 B now. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that . I’m going for my 2nd consult with a new Dct since the first one gave me a lot of problems when they submitted the request to my insurance. I’m a 36 H and that says a lot .

The beige bra is 2 days post op. Still swollen and a bit nervous about taking it off and putting back on.
The black bra is 5 days post op. My 5th day came with depression. My surgery office gave me info about it. But I still wasn't prepared for the depression. Thank God it passed quickly and I talked to my husband and doctor about it.
The pictures of my scars were for 6 days post op. Doctor says my scars are healing very well. I have glue on the incision, just tape around the nipples.
Loving my results and I cannot wait for the next few months to see how they change for the better.

I had that depression too. Healing is tough. It does get better as you say!

After talking to my husband and doctor, that helped me with the depression. You're right, it does get better.

What was the cause of the depression? Is it to be expected?

The depression just came out of the blue. My husband asked me if I was okay and I just brien down crying and feeling so low.
I spoke with my surgery at my next appointment and he said they still do not know where or why people experience it.
They gave me some info prior to surgery and I still didn't think it was a thing I would experience because I don't usually experience depression.
If you experience any type of depression, please talk to someone who is caring for you. That helped me a lot.
