Tear Trough (under eye) filler and dissolving with Hyalase

I had dark circles under my eyes that had bothered me since I was a teenager. My wedding was coming up and I heard about filler under the eyes fixing dark circles. This sounded like a miracle to me so I went to a reputable clinic and had a qualified cosmetic doctor do the procedure.

Initially things were ok - no major bruising or problems. However, over time the filler started to swell a lot and was causing puffiness and large wrinkles under my eyes due to swelling. To top it off it didn’t remove the appearance of dark circles either so was basically just a nuisance I had the pleasure of paying $750.00 for. However, I was told the fillers only last 6 months and than I should return to normal so I waited it out for 2.5 months. At this time I discovered (from reading and doctors comments on this site) that this was not true, and filler in the tear trough could last years. This was unacceptable, and with my wedding in 2 months I decided to have it dissolved.

I went back to have it dissolved, and developed a horrible allergic reaction with hives. They did not do an allergy test beforehand. They also did not seem very concerned when I called them to ask if this was normal. Thankfully after a day or two the allergic reaction went down, however I noticed there was still a bump on one side, and there seemed to be tissue loss on both sides causing horrible shadowing through the centre of my lower eyelids. I went back and they injected more hyalase into the bump, however it made no difference.

I told them this and they just said look we’ve put a lot of hyalase in so if it’s still there’s it’s not filler. I asked what could this lump be if it’s not filler? They just avoided the questions and I could tell they were getting defensive and just wanted me to go away.

I went to another practice for a second opinion and they said they believed the bump was residual filler and that I should have my original doctor treat it because it was their mistake.

However I explained I had no confidence in them and that their resistance to me made me too uncomfortable to go back. Thankfully she was sympathetic, and said she would do the treatment for me. She also said that tissue loss caused by hyalase should replenish itself with time, but how much time was anyone’s guess. This didn’t make me feel much better as many people on here have said it never comes back.

I am seeing them for further dissolving of the left over lump today and I guess I have not much choice but to just hope it works and doesn’t make everything else worse. I’m just praying the indentations in my face fill out again too.

I wanted to share my experience because there are too many doctors on this site saying fillers are great and easily reversible. However through my experience and digging a bit deeper I have realised this could not be further from the truth. I am only 26, 1 month out from my wedding day (which should have been the happiest day of my life) and now I fear I have permanently deformed myself. I have been very depressed, and feel like I can’t tell anyone because I’m embarrassed to tell friends and family I did something like this in the first place. I wish everyday I could go back in time and never do it. I hope my story helps prevent someone else from making the choice to get fillers. It’s a dangerous game.

I wish I had read this a week and a half ago. I hate my Tear trough filler. I am only 21, and have a big huge black eye, which I had to buy power k to fix which it is helping, and in the other eye HUGE bags, from the juvaderm filler attracting water, and I only has 1/4 a syringe in each eye. So depressed, happy my boyfriend is there for me but I still can't help but cry when he looks at me. Make up proffessionals can't fix it or cover it either. The medspa I went to (filled with doctors MD and nurses) all assured me before the procedure that if I didn't like it that I could have it dissolved right away. Not the case... click on my name to see my journey with this awful experience. I will be updating regularly. For anyone considering fillers under the eye DO NOT GET IT. read all the bad reviews before you try, not just the doctors reccomendations, and also read the Hyaluronidase reviews because getting rid of it is not as easy as they make it sound. I can't even go out in the sun because I'm scared of my bruise hyperpigmenting.

It seems juvaderm is the worst Under Eye filler :/

Definitely is. I still have swelling under my eyes it turns out it was juvaderm ultra mini syringe split between both eyes. So bad even when it isn't swelling there is a noticeable tyndall lime under both eyes and a dent from where she hit the vessel:/

Thank you for your review:) SO sorry to hear of your horrible experience:(( I am dealing with a similar one as well and have been researching on how to possibly correct some of the "damage". I had VOLUMA injected under my eyes 3 YEARS ago, the surgeon assured me that this method was the best bang for my buck and would last a very long time.( Well it has indeed lasted and he injected a TON under my eyes at the time so I looked pretty chipmonkish for a few years..lol ) I had complained about that so he then injected the hyaluronidase and did a laser treatment to try to dissolve some of the filler which worked a bit but not dramatically. I later went to have Ulthera under my eyes which also helped a small bit, BUT to even out all the damage done I HAD to get additional filler injections (this time Restylane/Beletero) . The injector (RN) said she could feel a large lump near my tear trough and guessed it might be scar tissue or a collagen lump from those prior Voluma injections! I did not want to have my eye cut open to explore so I have just been patient and waited for most the filler to dissipate on its own. So now I am dealing with some under eye wrinkles that I think are exagerrated because of too much filler:( I am researching Laser treatments now so watch for my post if I find a solution that sounds good:))) I have been told by 2 Doctors that the laser will make a big difference. Still trying to decide which one to go with because there are so many options! Good luck in your journey~
