I have had general have diffuse thinning on the top and wide hair parting . In general my hair has lost its thickness and voulme. I took viviscal, tried nioxin and all other hair boosting methods. I got my thyroid checked b12 etc. I started low light laser treatment and then added my first PRP on march 4h. My next PRP was April 28th. At this I am not certain if it has made a difference yet.

Have you noticed a change?

You can have a genetic predisposition for Hair Loss. There is a gene AR - Androgen receptor gene that is associated with male pattern balding. It can be the amount of Androgens being too high in relation to Estrogen or just androgen sensitivity. Is your DHEA high? high DHEA hormone causes acne and hair loss. Heading into menopause causes hormones to shift and you might need to get on estrogen and progesterone. Avoid androgens/male hormones.

Hello everyone I got my hormonal panel test . My thyroid and iron levels are fine but I have very low vitamin d and B12. Also she did a saliva test for my cortisol and DHEAS. Both we high. My estrogen was ok though I am low on progesterone. Currently I am taking some supplements for the Vitamin D and b12. I am applying some tropical progesterone cream. I also talked to my mother and she has diffusing hair. Not sure at this point if there are any way to reverse the hair loss

Have you had your iron levels checked?
Find a doctor who will run a Ferritin test on you -
your levels should be at 50.
I lost a BUNCH of hair last year
and found that I was at level 20 (super low)
and started taking an Iron supplement -
all my hair has come back!!!
Good luck!

That’s exactly what happened to me. My ferritin was 66. GP’s like Ferritin above 70 in the UK. Mine is now almost up to 80.

See an endocrinologist to make sure there isn’t a physical reason for it. I have had some hair thinning since I was in my 30’’s. Now 64. I still have plenty of hair, relatively speaking, but my scalp is visible on the top of my head. I have used Rogaine for 4 years. It grew a little hair in the temples where I had none, but other than that it isn’t growing any. It is supposed to keep it from falling out as fast.
My solution was a small, human hair piece. I bought it from a place that specializes in women’s hair loss. I love it! The texture of my real hair is lousy. I put the hair on and my hair looks great. No one can tell that I am wearing hair.

Thanks for sharing. What a great solution! Would love to see a photo if you have a chance.

Could you please tell me the name of the store where you bought your hair piece? I Was losing hair for two years ( after uterine ablation)before I finally went to a dermatologist who ordered all the tests for hormones, vitamin and mineral deficiencies or overload of something. everything was normal except my ferritin was slightly higher than normal range. I was in perimenopause and then last year, my hormone tests showed I was in menopause. I have been using minoxidil 5% 2x day as recommended by the dermatologist and I could notice the difference when I skipped several days from using it. I took biotin, zinc and used coconut oil for hair treatment but hair keeps falling out. It was so bad that hair fell on my desk at work. Fortunately, only a few did and rarely at that. Since I've been using minoxidil short hair grew in my temples and my part was not as wide but my crown was still noticeably thin. Is there anything else i could use?

i have had hair loss issues and dr usually just want to throw minoxdil at you or write you off..so if i were you...i would find a dr that did that extensive test because that goes after the root cause.....and you have something your body is lacking but most test dont go that deep...so i would take the ladies advice about those nurtient and hormone test....also heard that black seed oil, pumpkin seed oil is good, and doing hair mask with oils a hour b4 shampoo and washing hair with nizoral shampoo and using no sulphate shampoos etc.....but usually it is low iron, low b vitamins, dht which you need to take a anti dht supplement or pill for life, or high cortisol which raises dht, and important to avoid sugar bec that is bad for the hair.....and low omegas can cause hair loss too....or low estrogen....

low iron i biggy on hair loss....low normal is also is very bad for hair loss...and many women with low stomach acid dont absorb their nutrients from food so you end up low in iron and other vitamins and thus hair loss......braggs apple cidar vinegar 2tbsp b4 every meal can correct that....but drink w a straw to protect teeth and you can dilute it

I didn’t know low estrogen or high cortisol could lead to hair loss, although that makes sense. I had very low iron and low ferritin, which contributed to mine. But also I had low blood platelets and they say people w low blood platelets are not good candidates for PRP. Hopefully since I stopped menstruating, my platelets have increased and I can do it soon! I appreciate your good info!

I am 40 years old and over the last year I have lost a considerable amount of hair and had no idea how depressing it could be. I have been so down; esp when I see pix of me from a year ago and I can easily tell I had more hair. I have an endocrinologist and a rheumatologist that constantly ck my blood for deficiencies. I don’t know what to do anymore and at this rate I will be bald in the not so distant future. I had considered a naturopathic doctor but they are soooo expensive. I’m at a loss

So many just shrug the worry off. I have been taking Viviscal extra strength two plus years and cannot even see my scalp without effort.

I have tried everything. Rogaine, Endocrinologist, dermatologists, all the topical, even did microneedling and pro with platelets. Nothing has made my hair thicken up. I am to the point I just want to stop the loss now. My mom had very thick hair when she was young, but when she passed away her hair was very very thin. I have spent a small fortune but if I can just keep what I have, I will be happy
