ICL & Lasik
Hi RS! I'm almost 2 years post op from ICL surgery. I was wearing glasses and contacts since 1st grade (2001), and the surgery was performed January 22, 2019. I had severe nearsightedness (myopia) at -11 in my left eye and -10.5 in my right eye. One week prior, I went in to have tiny holes lasered into my eyes to prevent pressure and fluid buildup in the eye after the ICL procedure. It was uncomfortable but tolerable. For the actual ICL procedure, I was given an anti-anxiety medicine prior, then the actual surgery took roughly 10 minutes per eye. I felt pressure, but pain during and after was quite mild. Once my eyes were stabilized, the doctors realized I was not seeing as well as I should. On March 28th, 2019 I had Lasik performed on both eyes to correct the slight imperfections. The recovery from lasik was painful in my experience, however this lasted only a day. With both surgeries now, I am able to see as well as I could in contacts! I do have some lingering side effects such as halos while driving at night, some dryness, as well as the holes where they lasered to relieve pressure before ICL are still white in the colored part of my (dark brown) eyes. Hopefully this helps someone during the process, please let me know if you have any other questions!
