I had lower jaw surgery to correct severe overbite...
WORTH IT
I had lower jaw surgery to correct severe overbite. Also had liposuction at the neck / jaw line and chin implant put in. All three procedures were necessary in order to obtain an optimum result. Required one year of orthodontic treatment prior to surgery and six months post surgery. I was fortunate to find an excellent orthodontist, Dr Viney Saini, and a fantastic maxillofacial surgeon, Dr Michael Will.
It took time, effort, and great people to make this all happen.
It wasn't easy, but the results were well worth it! I am very pleased with my new look and smile!

Any numbing of the face?
Fossil20, It has been 13 months since my surgery. I am still experiencing some numbness and tingling of my lower lip and chin. At times I don't notice it, other times it can be a little bothersome. Overall, I am very glad that I had it done. I feel much better about my appearance and my smile. Wish you the best!
Last question! Care to show any before / after pics? I
Fossil20,
Sorry, I will not post any pictures. I will tell you that I have received many compliments from friends and family.

How much did the procedure cost? Was any covered by insurance?
I had a chin implant and lower jaw surgery. The combined cost was almost $25000. The implant was considered to be cosmetic, so insurance did not cover any of the cost. My surgeon was not part of my insurance network; however, I knew he was the best. Insurance covered 80%.
If you wish to save some money, make sure that your surgeon is in your insurance network. Also, check cost of outpatient surgery either at surgeon's office, or hospital.
