6 weeks post op

Scars are amazingly not red, inflamed, anything! Already fading nicely. Difference in skin color on top/ bottom of arm incisions because summer tan hadn't faded yet! I don't look 21, but I'm 67 and I'm amazed at how I look now. Losing 120+ lbs was necessary to do this, but removing the skin was what absolutely made the best difference (and, no, I'm not minimizing the weight loss!).

Totally awesome!!!

Dr. Michael Loffredo in Hyannis is absolutely the best! I sailed through surgery and recovery (I'm six weeks from surgery). Scars really minimal for this amount of time.

I'm finally posting before photos. I promise to take after photos soon.

Dr. Loffredo took 9-10 lbs of skin and fat but it feels like he took 50 or more.

I have been overweight my whole life, never under...

I have been overweight my whole life, never under 140 since I was 14 (except for one day at 139!), and 267 at the highest. As a college freshman, my weight ballooned to 250; I then lost 90 lbs. This pattern was repeated at least three more times over the years. My weight gradually crept up (steadily) to a high of 267. After all those yo-yo times, I decided it would be healthier to be heavy than to gain and lose major amounts, so I stopped dieting. That was all well and good, except my knees hurt, I couldn't do as much as I wanted, and I really didn't feel good about my body. About 6 years ago a friend (also overweight) laid down a challenge that we lose 5 pounds in 4 months. I do have a competitive streak and lost 30. I continued on to lose 60. Then 3+ yrs ago I became my mom's caregiver after she fell and fractured a vertebrae. Trying to get her to eat I gained 25 lbs back. In 2013-2014, I had both knees replaced and also had surgery for a badly fractured tibia. After struggling for 2 ½ yrs, I dug in again and (since November) have lost 65+ more for an overall loss of over 100 lbs. My mom died at 95 just 4 days after I started the Ideal Protein diet. My partner left in January. I could have caved in, given up, and gained who knows how much, but I didn't. I am proud of what I have done, but I know that the excess skin will be with me no matter what. That excess skin has been with me since I was 18 and has not gotten smaller with time! This time, that skin is going! I am scheduled for an abdominoplasty/panniculectomy and brachioplasty (both arms) in early October (my surgeon will work on my abdomen and his partner will do my arms, saving anesthesia time [and some $ too]). At 67, my attitude is it's never too late! I don't have any photos yet, but will keep you informed. I really appreciate reading everyone else's stories!

Dr. Loffredo is just the best! Amazing results thanks to his skill. He's answered every question patiently and his follow up is the best I've ever experienced. On the few times when I had to call after hours, he called back within 2 minutes each time. Can't say enough good about him and his entire office. Also had very good experience at Cape Cod Hospital.
