Breast Implants Removed! - Hyannis, MA

I got saline breast implants under the muscle when i was 18. I had horrible looking breasts, like 2 little peanuts on my chest. My surgeon said there wasnt enough tissue to perform a lift or just reshaping, so i went with a small implant size to help give shape and weight to them. After a few months, the swelling went down and they werent bad. The worst was having people i know make comments to me about my "fake boobs"...little did anyone know that i had a major deformity and the surgery was partially covered by my insurance. I was mortified by the comments, especially because i considered myself pretty natural ( i didnt wear makeup and didnt shave that often, was pretty "crunchie"). Years went away, peoples interest went away. None of my boyfriends knew because the implants had settled so natural , but my breasts developed a double-bubble. I was willing to live with that compared to what i had looked like before.
I met my husband and last year, at 29 got married! I wore a strapless dress that i didnt really love and when i got the pictures back, all I could see were my boobs. They looked so large and plastic, everyone told me I was crazy, but it ruined all of my wedding pictures. I made a decision after the wedding to look into having them removed. I had had them for 11 years and figured it was time, as we would start trying for a family soon and I didnt want a rupture or leak when I was pregnant or with a baby! My husband and doctor agreed it was a proactive thing to do, eliminating any future issues...
I had my surgery yesterday morning. It was relatively easy, I was put under and woke up 2 hrs later in the post-op room. My doctor had drained the implants and removed the "bag", plus thoroughly scraped the interior pocket behind the muscle. I didnt get drains; he put on compression bandages....I am very nervous to see what they look like, but I have spoken to my doctor and know I made the right decision. Plastic Surgery will always be there and if I want a lift or something after I have kids, I will do that. I will just wear push up braws in the mean time...cause Im sure they will be very saggy!!!
Breast implants definitely aren't for everyone. But, isn't it annoying and hurtful when people make comments without knowing the whole story? Ergh.
I'm sorry you feel that your wedding pictures were ruined. Hopefully in time you can look back with a different perspective.
Please come back and let us know what you think when your bandages are removed.
