Two months since TCA peel and my skin still looks great
ORIGINAL POST
TCA Peel After Hyluronidase
WORTH IT$600
I had about 16ml of HA filler over 5 years, under eyes, cheeks, chin, lips, and jaw. Between migration and residual filler, I felt I had become unrecognizable. I had 8 rounds of hyaluronidase over 6 weeks and by week 8, had happily regained the contours of my face. Unfortunately, over the two months following my final treatment I had developed large crepey patches and shallow saucer-like depressions all around my face, particularly in areas where the hyaluronidase was injected superficially such as the tear troughs and mid-cheek.
I have always had very skin texture and these changes were absolutely not aging-related. After waiting another few months with no improvement, I found a dermatologist who also happened to be a researcher at a university hospital and explained that high doses of hyaluronidase can cause the fibroblasts that make collagen to go dormant leaving you with areas that can go years with inadequate collagen production. He said the controlled skin injury from the TCA can wake up the fibroblasts to produce collagen again and recommended a 40% medium-depth peel. By the 10th day, I was fully peeled and thrilled to see almost all the textural changes and depressions gone. It has now been two months since that TCA peel and my skin still looks great. I'm sharing this story because I was distraught for months being told that hyaluronidase had no long-term effect on skin yet experiencing the exact opposite and happy I found a solution (that worked for me)
