I want to say that this is more a review of Dr....

I want to say that this is more a review of Dr. Accetta as opposed to the surgery. I have another post where the surgery was much more successful. I wanted to post this to let others know about my experience with Dr. Accetta.

I had a fat transfer from Dr. Accetta in 2010 and at first, I was happy. However, after about 5 months I lost everything... it was as if I didn't even get the procedure done, except for the fact that I had spent $10,000. I just dealt with that and tried to be happy in my own skin... but in 2013 I decided I wanted the procedure fixed because I was so unhappy.

I began emailing Dr. Accetta and his team in June of 2013. I sent pictures to show him that nothing stuck and he emailed me back to let me know that he would be able to re-schedule a surgery and I would only have to pay for the lipo (not the fat transfer). I have cut and past portions of the email below:

"I have to agree with you, improvement is not obvious in your case... I would be willing to do a phase two for only the cost of liposuction, that is , no charge for the breast transfer."

This made me very happy, so I emailed back asking about what the cost would be and it was impossible to get a response. In July I was told that lipo would be $750 per area, but was not given a full quote. I emailed and emailed... finally someone responded and said that the doctor was out because he was having back surgery and I should email back in a month. I understood, wished him well and emailed back in a month... no response... I continued to email. Finally, someone said that he was still out and I should email back in a month. This cycle continued a couple of times until he was back in the office. I don't blame him for needing to tend to his health, that is important and I understand. However, I did not appreciate the consistent lack of response. All I was asking for was a ballpark price range.

Finally, when I did get a full response from Kristi, the surgery coordinator, on Jan 29th 2014 (remember, I began talking to them in June 2013), she told me this:
"Right now we are offering the Natural Breast Augmentation with 2 areas of liposuction for $6500. We would be able to 3 or 4 areas of liposuction for you at that cost since you are a previous patient. The $6500 would be for the procedure, the surgical center and the anesthesiologist."

I was appreciative of the discount for the lipo, but when I asked about getting a breakdown of the price, I didn't really get a straight answer. I continued to go back to the fact that Dr. Accetta offered to do the fat transfer at NO COST (see email above). I asked Kristi why I had paid $10,000 in 2010 and although I was appreciative of the lower cost ($6,500), wanted to get the cost WITHOUT the fat transfer included. I expected around $3750 [$750 x 3 = $2250, then add $1500 for anesthesiologist], as I was told each area of lipo was $750 in a previous email. This was her response:

"There really isn't anything else we could cut costs on. We can't take off the anesthesiologist [earlier she said this is $1500]. You have to be under general anesthetic for this procedure. You mentioned Dr. Accetta offered to waive some of the costs. That was during a time that we were still performing this procedure under local anesthetic (being awake). We now have to factor in the fees for the surgery center and the anesthesiologist. They charge us to use their facility. There are now hundreds of physicians performing The Natural Breast Augmentation, therefore we no longer charge what the price was in the past."

I understand the cost of the anesthesiologist, but I was asking for a breakdown of the fees because I only wanted to be charged for the lipo, and I guess, anesthesiologist (even though I didn't want this). She said that they only do the procedure asleep now but would not give me a breakdown of the cost. I emailed again and she did not respond and decided to give up. I did not think the fact that other doctors are now performing the surgery was a good enough response for why I should pay (almost) the full amount for the 2nd round, even though the cost was a major discount from when I initially did the procedure. However, this discount was due to time and and competition. It looks as though I was heavily OVERCHARGED the first time I got the procedure.

When I originally went in for the surgery with Dr. Accetta in 2010 I felt that the staff were friendly and nice. When I first began emailing them to get a quote for a 2nd surgery in June 2013, they were responsive. I don't know what happened but it seems that when the doctor left things fell apart. I have now read other reviews of Dr. Accetta and I am see that other women went to him for this procedure and their fat didn't stay either. It is a lot of money to spend for no results. I highly suggest that people do their research!

Instead, I went to a different doctor, Dr. Leeman in Austin TX. He gave me a good breakdown of the fees and he was honest with me. I am very happy with my results and I have posted a review, which you can see. This tells me that it is possible for fat to stay and for complicated cases like mine to be corrected... you just have to find the right doctor.
