Breast augmentation was something I had always...

Breast augmentation was something I had always considered, but never carried the idea further. A great friend finally helped me realize I was worth the investment!

My initial consultation went fine. For all the amazing technology my doctor's office uses, I'm not 100% sure I loved the process. I'm a VERY private person. So, standing in this room with all the technology was intimidating for me, in spite of the efforts to make it more comfortable. I also realized at this point, that while I knew what I wanted, putting it into words that really conveyed that picture was difficult. I had looked at a million before and after pictures but they're hard to describe. Ladies, the very best thing you can do is to take pictures with you. In addition to pictures of what you want the finished product to look like, take pictures of what you DON'T like. This is what I did and it really helped my doctor have a completely clear idea and for us to have shared goals. I didn't get this idea until the day of the procedure but you would be well advised to be prepared to do this at your consultation.

Our final decision was high profile silicone implants, 500cc, under the muscle. My bra size went from a 36B to a 36D.

The actual procedure was smooth as could be. My pain afterward was minimal but I have a high tolerance for discomfort. The comments I get are amazing. While my breasts were tight in the first few months, they were never super high and plastic-looking. In fact, I was so comfortable with them, that we vacationed at the beach a short 4 weeks afterward and I felt fabulous. After the first few months, they softened and most people would be hard pressed now to tell I have implants.

I did develop cords under the breast at about four months that are a potential complication. Ibuprofen handled the discomfort and they went away gradually over a two month period. I am now at about 9 months post surgery and couldn't be happier.

Let me tell you specifically about my doctor, Dr. Kortesis. I know I was stand- offish with him initially (fear makes people act strangely!!) but he was kind and consistently caring. He listened and was easy to work with and did a great job of sifting through my words until we were both on the same page. And, in the end, the outcome was perfect. I really do mean perfect. I would recommend Dr. Kortesis to anybody that is searching for a great surgeon and would even suggest you consider travel to work with this practice.
