First off, when people tell you that this is one of the most painful surgeries to recover from, believe them. I've had several surgeries and this is by far, the most painful. On the other hand, I am positive the end result will be worth it.

Between the skin from my 110 pound weight loss, my doctor remove a total of 24 pounds of skin and fat. Surgery was 7/16 so today is 5 days post op.

The drainage tubes were a little hard to get used to but, overall, I feel as though I'm progressively well. The hip to hip incision hurts but the worst side effect has been being itchy.

You're right about it being very painful. I have had a recovery that hasn't been easy. I'm almost 4 months post op & still not doing great. I'm much better than I was but it's a slow process for me. I hope you have an easy quick recovery. I know though that this can take months before I feel good. I'm happy with the results but still having to wear compression garments, etc. I have some swelling around the tt incision. I understand that this is to be expected. Take it easy & drink lots of water!! I wish you well!

Itchiness was worst part for me too! At 18 days post op it's finally subsided! Now it's the nerve sensation coming back that's driving me nuts! Keep your chin up!

So I've hit the one week post op point. Dr K says I'm doing fine and others I know say I'm healing very quickly. My "NY Minute" is long past so I feel as though as I'm sitting on duff wasting time but I guess I wouldn't be sleeping if I didn't need it. Here are some pics from yesterday. The bruising is better.....I mean A LOT better.

Thanks for the insight on the itchy...driving me bonkers but knowing it should be done by 3 weeks PO makes me feel better. I will be very happy when the drains come out but seeing what I'm getting from them, I'm very happy to have them.

Finally feeling alive again. I had still been on my antibiotic because I still had a drain in but started running low grade fever and the swollen area (left half of tummy) was red and hot to the touch. Dr K gave me a stronger antibiotic. I'm already feeling so much better. I can stand upright, need fewer pain meds, and am starting to see the completed work - what I'll look like once the swelling is all gone.

Fingers crossed drain will come out at tomorrow's follow up.
