I Don’t Know What Happened With My Rhinoplasty

$7,250
I debated on if I should update just yet. I really loved his staff a lot and had a lot of faith in him with my surgery. All of the work I seen in his office and in his reviews are, to this day, beautiful. I don’t know what happened with my rhinoplasty. I really don’t like to say negative things, but RealSelf had taken such a big part in my research and decisions, I feel that I should contribute to the information and maybe help whoever else may read, in whatever way that is. When I say my nose keeps getting worse and worse as the swelling goes down, I truly mean it. I have two different profiles, and none are what I had imagined. One side is straighter but quite bumpy. The other side still has a dorsal hump and some weird shape stuff going on. I don’t notice the dent I had before, maybe I’m distracted by everything else going on or it’s since leveled out. My nose also points down a little bit still (more so on one side and when I’m smiling). We had also discussed giving me a slight slope, there is none. I’m almost embarrassed to post pictures, but I’ve included them. Dr. Katz is a nice guy, but I think he may have rushed completing my surgery and botched my nose. I don’t know what other explanation there could be because his other nose jobs are so skillful and pretty. I travelled half the country and during this time with Covid and all that surrounds it, I’m especially bummed to have to plan a revision. Manina has been kind though, and from what I’ve gathered so far, Dr. Katz seems receptive and just wants to make sure his patients are happy.

Response from Dr. Katz:
We were distressed to read your comment. Please understand that the healing process is different for every patient. It generally takes 6 months to a year for all swelling to subside from Rhinoplasty surgery. If, however, you have concerns please contact our office to schedule a follow-up appointment to review your results and discuss any concerns with Dr. Katz. I assure you he wants nothing more than you to be fully satisfied with your surgical results. The office of Dr. Katz

Sorry to hear that you didn’t get what you expected, I’m on my second rhinoplastic and on my second one my tip was down so it looked weird on my second my dr got graft from my ear and it’s lifted now there is no thing that makes You feel disappointed than you didn’t get what you pay for ,I went to Mexico even though people thought I was crazy it came out much better than I expected I’m happy ,cause to get a revisionhere in the USA Beverly Hills )(wich by the way I where they ruin my nose I thought I did my homework going there ) was $20,000 that I don’t have .specially now With the economy if you are not happy you might have to consider a second one
Check out dr reish! He's in New York and is amazing at revisions.
Thank you for the update. I understand how you feel - my first surgeon has a ton of fantastic tesults, yet my came out underdone. I've had a revision which made some things better buy a couple of things worse. Actually really considering Dr. Katz for my second revision, so it is extremely helpful to read feedback for his work, even if it's not completely positive.

Has he said why your nose might have healed like this? Is he willing to revise it? I'm sorry your surgery fell short of the expectation. I do think your nose looks improved, but I totally get wanting a slope, been chasing it myself!
Not sure if you have had your revision yet by now . But I assume not since you have to wait a year . Try Turkey . Great revision rhinoplasty surgeons are there
Am I crazy or does your nose look basically perfect? I kindof see the tiny difference between the two sides but only because you pointed it out. Just my opinion, I think it looks amazing!

There’s a Nostril Dent, And Waiting on Bump Still

The office has still been doing a great job answering my questions and calling me back, but this is such a roller-coaster. As it heals, I feel I like it less and less.. when I should be liking it more and more. I know rhinoplasty takes a lot of patience, but I feel like things should look a little different by now. My bump is still there. My breathing is better than after surgery, but I still can’t breathe fully. I also recently noticed a nostril dent, which has been a major disappointment for me. I have been so careful and haven’t endured any trauma to my nose since surgery, so I’m thinking this is just my results showing more as the swelling goes down. I really wanted to love my nose, but I’m not feeling it very much right now. I think at the very least, I’m going to end up needing a revision to fix the dent and shave the bump down more.

Your profile both sides look awesome to me. You can't see a bump from the front that I can see either. If you at only 3 months you have a long way to go before you see your final result. I know it is hard but be patient. I would kill for your profiles.

Being Patient

My right side of the nose is looking significantly better than my left side. I started to become a little concerned, so I emailed pictures to the office. I was called back once the office opened, and was told not to worry and it was the fracture point of my nose. I’ll update around month 4-5, still optimistic.

I had surgery with him a few months ago and I had the same issue where I had a small hump where my old nose use to have it but as time goes by it goes away it’s just fluid
Yeah, I figured so much! At which month did you notice the hump gone by?
How do you like your results?
How is your bump doing and how do you like your results?
The bump is still very much there. Dr. Katz said he's about 85-90% sure it's still just swelling, so I'm still trying to be patient. I also noticed a nose dent by my nostril a couple of weeks ago, so I'm feeling a bit down because now I'm pretty convinced that I'll need a revision.
Wait til the swelling goes all the way down. Don't get a revision, too risky I think because you can have a plastic surgeon do micro droplet silikon in that little indent to camouflage it.
