I've had larger than average labia since childhood. I decided to have the surgery to reduce the minora for comfort purposes as well as confidence issues when i'm in a swimsuit or intimate with my partner. I'm currently 6 hours post op and couldn't be happier with how the process has been so far. Despite some sharp pains after trying to ice the area (would not recommend doing on the first day) the area is not painful. There is a light achy feeling, but that's all! After reading horror stories when researching the procedure i did have a slight sense of dread going into the operation. Touch wood the healing process caries on this way..

How are you getting on now? :)

Pretty well, swelling + bruising is almost gone. I'm a little worried about stitch area as one side looks like it has come apart. Trying not to worry about it until i speak to my Dr. Will try and post an update in a few days. Hope you're healing well :)

Hey, I am the same with a stitch area (on my left minora on the outside). I'm away to post op appt now which is 3 hours travelling aghh. Lol.
But yes, try not to worry until you see your surgeon, I know that's easier said than done :) Good Luck! X

Thank you. Its good to know i'm not the only one having this problem (mine too is on the left side on the outer stitch). I'm probably being inpatient, but it honestly feels like its taking forever to heal. Hope the appt goes well and your recovery starts to improve :) x

Well i've been to see my surgeon and he said that it's just an outer wound opening (not all the way through). He removed my stitches today! I'm 2 weeks post op. He also said that it should heal well and on the small chance i'm not happy with how it does, he could easily sort it under local in like 5 months. But I really do feel better after seeing him, so just keep resting and i'm sure you'll be fine! I've decided i'm not gonna look now haha.
Hope your recovery improves also! X :)

Since the operation my labia have turned pretty much every colour of the rainbow. Thankfully, the colour has started to settle down and the swelling is getting there. But its definitely not nearly as bad as it was in the first 3 days. I thought from the swelling that some of the stitches might have been loosened. As the left side appeared to have opened up where the wedge of skin was removed. I'd put off doing an update for so long due to not being sure what was happening down there. On day five my stitches were looking more and more obvious and it was as if they were dissolving. Which seeems way too eary considering it takes 2-3 weeks.
I had my first post op appt yesterday and was told everything was healing well and it was only the stitches on the outside that are dissolving but the inside ones are still there. She also said the left side has not opened up. I'm feeling better about the recovery now. For a while i was convinced my labia were horribly disfigured from the bruising/swelling/stitches! I'd urge anyone else going through this experience to keep an open mind and not to check more than once a day. It's honestly torture otherwise.
To end on a positive note i'm completely pain free and have had no infection.

I can't believe how similar our situation is! Did you have to get any external stitches removed or are all of yours dissolvable? Hope you are feeling ok still x

I know! i've been reading your posts and relate to it so much. My stitches are all disovable. I'm feeling great thanks. I'm having to try hard not to over do it even though i feel i'm ready to start exercising and that. How's things going with you? X

I've been so emotional (can't believe how much actually) but i've decided to not look at it with a mirror for at least a week. Otherwise I keep freaking out. But reading yours has also helped me since both our surgeons say it will most likely heal.
I went back to work today and it went better than I hoped. (Apart from I cried in front of a coworker because she said to me 'you look like you're going to cry' - how embarrassing! But I quickly composed myself haha).
Will check in with you throughout (if you don't mind of course!)

Haha, that's fine by me! I was really emotional for the first week (kept thinking i made a huge mistake) didn't help that my manager was being less than understanding. Honestly felt like quiting my job and finding a new one so i wouldn't have to ask for another week off. I'm a blubber too! so i'm probably going to cry when my colleagues ask where i've been the past 2 weeks (not looking forward to going back Monday) have you found that you're recovery has slowed down since going back to work? X
