Procedures: Abdominalplasty and...

Procedures: Abdominalplasty and liposuction

Surgeon: Dr. Christopher Patronella
Recommends: YES (without reservation)
Cost: $9800 (for abdominalplasty (i.e tummy tuck); $5200 liposuction
Who am I: A woman, a physician, a mother of two little ones (2.5 and 4.5), a wife, and a friend.
Age: 32

MY STORY:
I was always very unsure about plastic surgery; actually, I thought it was for other people, people who wanted to look better, greater, ...
Then I had my 2 babies; did not gain much weight, but they were big babies. Lost almost all the weight after my first one. Then with the second one, I had an emergency C-section and never really recovered well...
If you are reading this review, then I am sure you are looking for details to identify yourself: my son was late, I had plenty of stretch marks, I had extra/ stretch skin in front of my pubic area, and my abdominal muscles despite doing crunches were separated...
My chest and my abdomen were completely different sizes... Could not buy clothes to fit right, kept seeing myself in the mirror and trying to cover the extra skin... as the rest looked ok.

My husband always said that I was the most beautiful woman in the world and my two little boys would constantly tell me that I was a princess...

So then I made the jump!! I decided I want plastic surgery just TO BE MYSELF!!! not to improve, not to enhance, just to be myself!!! To be able to fit clothes...

I looked up different physicians online... Talked to my friend who herself had breast augmentation and liposuction done... And during my research, found Dr. Patronella.
I was very impressed by his results, his techniques as he described it on his website. I looked if he had any complaint with the medical board (which he did not). I also saw that he did a procedure on a physician who posted her testimonial on his website.
That was it, I had a gut feeling that he was the right doctor for me. I made an appointment and there, we were, the surgery was scheduled few months out and I had no worries.
(The liposuction was added at a later time, at our pre-op visit (2 weeks prior to surgery), as I kept thinking that I only wanted surgery ONCE ("Do what you need to do and do all that you need to do" (Dr. Patronella answer was: "I would only do it if it bothers you, otherwise I won't").

My sister was worried as I had a hard time with my C-section....

I am 10 days out of my procedure (but I would have written the same review right after my surgery): I am very happy with the results, my husband cannot believe how well my scar is healing (the bruising is still there), my sister came to see me and she herself is stunned at all of what I can do after only few days,...

What one needs to decide is whether or not plastic surgery is right for him or her.

The outcome: Still sore and bruised. My abdomen is flatter; the pain was nothing compared to the healing of my C-section (but again I had a terrible experience) and still small breasted as I have always been.
I feel that as I as heal I will just be me again. No more, no less.
(I use to be a size 2, and do not necessarily wish to be that again, but rather just to feel good).

I did it for myself. We always do everything for others. This was for me.

I hope this review helped you in deciding what is right for you. It is an extremely difficult decision to make and I cannot make it any easier for you, but if you thought that plastic surgery was right for you, I believe that I had a great doctor.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things you need to know: you will need to make sure to schedule some off time (vacation, sick time, ...) after surgery to heal. You will not be able to lift anything (my sons were at an age that they understood, although people were concerned with their young age). You do not want to have further pregnancies. And you will be sore and possibly in pain after the surgery.

Things to think about: this is your body, not a pair of shoes or a shirt. This is the one time you really want the very best; as I read recently, a good way to put it: "Don't put yourself on the discount rack!".

As for me, I believe it was worth it. I had the VERY BEST DOCTOR and if I were to choose again, it would be him. I was supplemented with vitamins and supplements prior to the surgery (and to be continued after surgery to speed up the healing process). I was cared for well throughout my surgery. I stayed overnight at the surgical facility with good nursing staff. Part of my doctor's "after surgery package", is to provide his patient with a homehealth visit by a nurse (who was very skilled and attentive). Furthermore, I continue to follow up in clinic with him. (Again I am less than 2 weeks after having had surgery done). As a physician, I was looking for a physician who had it all: excellent bedside manners, great skills, great personality; and Dr. Patronella has it all.
