$5,900
Today I had my EGD everything went well. My Sleeve and Hiatal Hernia will be done earlier on December 18, 2013. Very excited.
Total paid at the Hospital was my remainder balance on out of pocket $178.00
On the day of my Surgery I will only pay the Hospital $1,000 and on Pre Op with Dr. Mirza my Sleeve Fee $4,900. I am very happy and feel very comfortable with the Doctor.
Everyone was very nice at the Hospital during my EGD.

Hello Everyone
On November 19, 2013 had several appointments
1. Gallbladder Ultrasound and paid $50.00
2. Medical Clearance Paid my Co-Pay $20.00 and also seen the Nutritionist paid $75.00
3. Psycholigist paid $100.00 for a short-short visit. (I did ask if it was necessary to see the Psycholigist) and this is part of the beginning process to having the Sleeve Surgery.
Fees are different I am just posting what are my expenses so it can help some of us out there whom are within a budget and considering a Sleeve Surgery etc.
I do have Labs that must get done by the Pre-Op and I will post after my Pre-op visit.
So my Next appointment will be in December (pre-op) getting very nervous and at the same time looking foward to a Healthy life.

Hello Everyone (#1. Post)
I am at my 5'2 and currently weight 174.8 as of (11/01/13) female with Low Thyroid.
My Journey:
On (11/05/13) went to for first consultation with Dr. Brian Mirza in Houston.
Went very well Dr. Mirza was excellent in explained the difference of Lap Band and Sleeve, Risks etc.
My first visit I paid $200.00 (keep in mind) fees are different it could be (Insurance, Self-Pay) is the Facility or Clinic to determine. I currently have BCBC PPO and it does not cover the Sleeve only Hiatal Hernia.
On (11/05/13) Pylori Test Breath was done and came back (negative) at Dr. Mirza Office. Good News.
I have Scheduled a EGD for the Doctor to take a look at my Hiatal Hernia. Yes. I known of my Hiatal Hernia back in 2011 previously and now treat it by taking over the Counter (remedy).
My life have always been of weight struggles losing and gaining (Diet, Diet Pills, Working Out) but I just can't and haven't been able to lose all this extra weight. I am told by my PCP that it more likely my Low Thyroid.
So I have finally made my decision to have my Hiatial Hernia and Sleeve Surgery at the same time.
I will post more update after my EGD. Thanks If you have questions feel free to ask and I will try to answer the best I can (not an MD)

Ty I am in my prime and this is my start to reclaiming what is mine...my life my health my future. Good luck thumbs up and look forward my friend ...together we will be undefeated in our quest. :)
I do know since the hiatal hernia was fixed I don't have the problems with gerd I did have so that in itself is a plus.
I also go back in 4 months to have an umbilical hernia repaired. Fun. But I won't look lopsided lol jk

Hi Liz, welcome!
Good luck with all of your tests! I also have a hiatal hernia, however, I had the sleeve without fixing it as they usually can only do a temporary fix at the same time as WLS. So, I opted to leave the temp fix, lose more weight and then have the final fix done later.
Please do keep us updated with your progress!
