If you DID NOT pass the sleep study, that means you DO HAVE sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is considered a co morbidity, so that should qualify you for bariatric surgery at a lower BMI. Please verify exactly what your sleep study results showed, and don't give up!

Maybe I worded that wrong...lol the nurse called and said I did not have sleep apnea.

Oh no :( no one wants to feel like they actually need to gain weight to have the procedure covered but maybe that's what you need to do. Or revisit it in a few months or year and see if you gained the weight without trying. You are so close to that mark that it's probably not that much extra to gain.

Oh heck, just put a few rolls of quarters in your pockets to add weight. I saw that on a show about anorexic ballerinas who had to meet a weight requirement in order to dance. They would put the quarters in their hair buns. LOL. Not the best advice, but it could work.

So many people are sleeved in Mexico and the price is ridiculously cheap compared to here. Maybe you could look into that. It seems defeating to gain weight in order to be approved here.

Getting sleeved in Mexico by Dr Ortiz this coming Tuesday. The cost is so reasonable if paying out pocket. Google him he has great reviews. Follow me for my results. Good luck to you!

It seems like you SHOULDN'T pass, because then they can call it a comorbidity, which helps you get coverage for a bmi between 35-40. So they're telling you that you need to pass it? Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine. I did not have to do a sleep study so I don't know what it's like :/

I have double Union insurance from 2 different unions and neither one covers the surgery under no circumstances. so I tried for a loan thru the website I found online at "a lighter me" the loan company is centrera. However I was accepted and total cost was 5800 that includes their fees hospital stay hotel stay medicines surgery as well as rides to and from hotel. I was ready to sign. But I also checked with my personal bank and I got even a better deal. took a loan for 4600 and that even covers my airfare. Payments are 140 a month. Totaly worth it since I been trying so very hard for years to control my weight. I have surgery march 31 at a lighter me

I wonder if there's a way you can fake sleep apnea! Haha. It seems like you would probably know if you had any sleeping problems. And at that weight you probabaly don't. If insurance doesn't pay for it, can you self-pay?

Jeeze, how big do they want me to be....Im 5'2 @ 215 lbs....and feel awful. :( Self pay......hmmmmm.....not sure if its in my budget, it would depend how much and if they offer payment arrangements.

Comorbidities are also things that I had like joint pains when you walk, which of course makes you less likely to want to exercise. Don't give up if you don't have sleep apnea.

Be sure you get enough protein and vitamins and iron....it probably still will shed alot because your body is stressed due to rapid wt loss and hair is not a necessity to your body. Hair shedding is normal in in everyone but people who have wt loss tend to stay in the shedding phase longer . Try not to add stress to the hair with chemicals like hair color, high heat styling ect. Pamper your hair.

Wow, I keep saying the same thing. I am hoping to have my sleeve at the end of March and altho it isn't that far away, it seems like eternity waiting. I say the same thing that I want to start my new life already!!! If I could sign up and have it done tomorrow, I would.

I am also terrified. I have already had thinning hair due to hypothyroidism and genes. I heard biotin helps so I have just started that even though I'm still over 2 weeks away from surgery. Also I heard getting enough protein is really important. I'm going to do it all! lol. I've seen people comment things like "you can always wear wigs" and "it'll grow back". Well true...but I don't want wigs or baldness! Lol. I love my long hair. So anyway I'm going to do everything I can to prevent the hair loss, I have seen many people say it wasn't bad.

From what I read getting enough protein is the best way to try to keep the balding at bay. I also started taking some biotin gummies for now not sure what my doctor will say for post-op yet.

I eat protein and take vitamins including Biotin . I began two weeks before my surgery and so far so good. Hair loss was a huge fear for me because I had already lost a bunch the last few years due to infections & Bowel Resection Surgery. Good luck.
