Almost One Month Post Op, Very Uneven Nostrils and Nose is Crooked. - Houston, TX

ORIGINAL POST

I'm almost a month post op from my Rhinoplasty....

I'm almost a month post op from my Rhinoplasty. I'm very concerned at how uneven my nostrils are and how crooked my nose looks. I was certain that this would go away by the one month mark. The crookedness is more apparent at the morning and at certain angles. Now, my nose was uneven before surgery too. I haven't seen my surgeon for two weeks but I will be seeing him again next week to voice my concerns. I just am upset because a lot of other people seem to have swelling but their nose is straight so I am worried that it won't straighten.

Another reason I am concerned is because I had a major decrease in swelling from Day 6 (day of cast removal) and day 12. But since Day 12 my nose hasn't seemed to get much smaller or change in shape.

Hi, I'm sorry to see you are having some issues. I hope it's just swelling and will become less noticeable? But I'd think if the crookedness persists then your doc should do a revision in the future? You are early from your surgery still, so wait and see. but it does look nicer than before! Did you have a deviated septuM? It appears you did or do. Was it addressed?

I would recommend seeing another surgeon and getting their advice. This seems a little alarming and maybe another doctor would be able to either confirm or negate what your doctor says?

I agree with others that you should seek another surgeon's opinion. I wouldn't rate the surgery as "worth it" if you're having major concerns. Good luck and please keep us updated.

Im surprised too that this is rated as "worth it"?!

Thank you for sharing on RealSelf! From some angles your nose looks perfect, and then from others I see what you mean. Sometimes noses do swell unevenly, so fingers crossed that this is what is happening. Please let us know how it goes! Either way, you're very pretty.

I am really sorry u have to go through that. I have the same problem like. My mistake was to use the same doctor for my revision after the bad 1st procedure. U can imagine at the end I had 2 bad nose jobs. It's been a year now after tons of research I think that I found the best surgeon for my 3rd and last revision. It is Dr. Boahene. According to my info about him, he is really good especially for ethnic nose job. My advice to you is to calm down and take your time to find the best surgeon bcoz ur today decision will affect ur future.

Hi Angy90. I had my revision with Dr. Boahene last March. My nose is still healing but overall it's better than pre revision. You can check my review on here. Good luck to you!

Update after reading everyones comments. Clarification!

Hey all. Thanks so much for all of the comments, advice, and kind words. I feel like I need to clarify a few things though! The reason I rated my surgery as worth it is because it was. I don't regret my decision and I don't think I'll need a revision. When I wrote this review I focused soley on what I was unhappy with about my nose and not what I liked. Just so everyone knows most of the time I look in the mirror amazed! My hump is gone, my tip is lifted and my nose is overall much smaller and more fitting to my face. So out of the 4 things that I hated about my nose, 3 have been fixed, and the 4th may be due to swelling.

I hope everyone also keeps in mind that I am not even a month post op. I will be a month post of after the 8th of June. In addition to that, my procedure was quite long and I can FEEL how swollen my nose is on one side compared to the other. I would say that I am quite confident that my uneven nostrils are due to swelling and I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this. I'll be adding some photo updates later, and again thanks for all the feedback!

I am glad that you're mostly happy with how your nose is at the moment. That said, I would still recommend you going and getting a 2nd opinion just to make sure that it is swelling and if it isn't swelling, you're probably still in the "window" where they could do something….

Mine are also uneven and the nose appears to "turn" a little too. I'm at about 6 weeks. Based on the stuffiness inside each nostril and the way it appears to me, it has to be swelling. Frustrating of course, but I wouldn't get too worried yet.

Also, it looks like the center of your tip lines up with the center or your face (between your eyes), which is good!

Thanks for sharing your story! My nostrils are just as uneven (although I am too embarrassed to post a pic showing them). They have been that way since the moment I woke up from surgery. My nose was not crooked before and my nostrils were originally very symmetrical so it is disappointing to have this happen. I am almost 2 weeks post op and have been wondering when the swelling will go down and things will even out. I was hoping it would be a few days, but after reading your story I see it may be months. At least I know what to expect now. I totally agree with you though, I would do it again as well. I can see how both of our noses look better in many ways. I really appreciate knowing other people are struggling with the same issue!
