I've talked about getting a nose job since I was in High School. I've always hated my profile. I found this website and realized that nose jobs aren't just for the rich and famous - its a common procedure and the way I felt about myself if the same thought that many others felt. This site and YouTube allowed me to find the courage to go through with this procedure. People sharing their stories and their recovery, was really inspiring to me and what finally allowed me to take the leap to make myself happy :) I want to capture as much of my experience as I can so hopefully it will help others through their journey.
I stalked Dr. Funk's work online for months before finally scheduling an appointment to see him. I didnt schedule any appointments with anyone other than him although it was recommended. In my opinion, I had read enough and saw his work that I was confident he was the doctor for me. I called and scheduled an appointment, was able to get one the following month with no issues. It was $225 for the consultation, but they credit that back to you if you schedule an appointment with them within 7 days of seeing them (the appointment can be for whenever, as long as you book).
When I went in for my consultation I was a bit shy - I knew what I wanted - but had never been asked to vocalize my concerns. I'm self conscious so having this conversation was really hard for me. He asked me specific questions that allowed me to open up. First about functionality then after that about cosmetic. He took some pictures then we walked to his office and he mocked up a rendition of what I would look like. I will still kind of nervous so I didn't say much.
That night, I went home and took a look at the quote and decided to follow through with the procedure. I would have a Septo/Rhinoplasty, Chin Implant and Lipo for my double chin.
Pre-Op Appt: For the pre-op i went in and Leah and Dr. Funk went into additional details. Leah walked me through how to care for myself and what the expect after the surgery. She gave me documents and highlighted the important areas as well as medicines that needed to be picked up before the surgery. I brought my parents since they were going to care for me. It was a lot of information and really fast - so I suggest taking a pen or someone who will be helping :) When I met with Dr. Funk, he talked through all of the problem areas he was going to be addressing through the surgery. We didn't look at any pictures - it was strictly a recap of what we had discussed and confirm we were still on the same page about what he would preform. After this is was back to work and counting down until the morning of my actual procedure!

I went to my 1st post op appointment yesterday. I walked in head down since I had my nose taped up but once I sat down I was pleasantly surprised - about 4 others had their nose taped up. I felt like I belonged ;) lol. Anyway wanted to share some pics of my recovery and some details about the post op appt.
My appointment was in the afternoon. Got called back and he examined my progress. He put some ointment or gel (my eyes were closed so I have no idea) on the tape - he said it helps remove the adhesive so the tape comes off easily. He then took out the stitches from my nose. It didn't hurt but I felt like I was flenching because I wasnt sure what to expect. I've never had stitches before and I was nervous my nose was going to be extra sensitive. That was over pretty quickly. He then suctioned out my nose - that was pretty quick and painless but kind of weird. Poor guy - who knows what came out ;P once he was done he took off the cast around my nose, let me take a look and then retapped it. From what I could see - I really liked it. I was kind of in shock, but now I wish I'd taken a pic. Overall my swelling had gone down and not much bruising.
