2nd treatment
I spoke with the Dr. and we both agreed a second treatment would be beneficial. I said it before but I will say again Dr. Kronberg is great. She really listens and answers questions very thoroughly. She was extremely patient when I expressed concerns. I know these things are variable depending on the person and skin type so I was open to another try. We did let the solution soak for an extra 10 minutes and I went under the lamp for the normal time.
Once I got home I noticed a redness like a mild sunburn. It was not unpleasant and I wasnt in any pain. I stayed out of all light for the prescribed period of time so I recuperated pretty quickly. The mild redness faded away after a couple days.
A week or so later I noticed the bumps flattening out and fading away. A couple weeks later I noticed my skin texture is markedly improved and the tone is evened out.
The 2nd treatment really kicked it into high gear and I am very pleased with the results. I may do 1 more as there are a few bumps left but even if I dont I am very satisfied with the results after the second treatment.
I would recommend it to people with the same condition but just be aware more than 1 treatment may be necessary.

slight improvement
There seems to be a slight improvement. Definitely not what I expected or hoped for but maybe time will reveal more.
I have a feeling at least another treatment will be needed.

I've been having problems with sebaceous...
I've been having problems with sebaceous hyperplasia bumps. Normally I have them electrically zapped off but they recur. Retin a seems to help a little but they still come back. Although they are benign the bumps are unsightly and I have them removed from time to time.
This last time the PDT treatment was mentioned to me and I went home and researched it. The treatment sounded promising so I gave it a try.
I had my appointment Friday morning. I went into the office and they put the solution on my face. I sat for about 20 minutes and then the aesthetitian had me wash it off with a skin cleanser and water. More on this later.
I then lay under the lamp for 20 minutes. There was no pain or hot feeling. There was no sensation at all any different than laying near a bright lamp.
Now 2 days later there still doesn't seem to be any impact. There isn't any redness or tightness etc. that others have described.
This seemed odd to me so I looked up other peoples experiences and most seem to have had their face cleansed with an alcohol type solution prior to the application of the activator. Also they didn't wash off the activator prior to going under the lamp.
Perhaps I'm expecting too much but the lack of any signs of efficacy leads me to believe this was a waste of money.
Given the chance I would not repeat this procedure.
I will say the Dr. did an excellent job with zapping the bumps off manually on my prior visit so I will probably stick to that method in the future.

Everyone in the office is very professional and courteous. Dr Kronberg is very friendly and is very happy to answer questions. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a dermatologist.
