Saw my ortho today. Everything looks good. Im healing well. Still not able to chew hard foods. Anything soft is game though. Upper lip is still numb but feeling in my cheeks is back. Ortho will be repositioning my top brackets in April and bring my top teeth down 2mm more.

Im able to chew soft foods now. It hasnt been too bad. My upper lip is still numb but I do get the occasional nerve firing trying to wake up. I have good occlusion now but disappointed in the tooth show. I still dont get a lot. Ortho says its because my top lip is still numb. Im considering an upper lip lift after I get all this healed up and braces off.

Saw my ortho today. I was put in rubber bands again for at least 3 weeks. Could be longer. Still have swelling in cheeks and upper lip but the visit went well. Progress!

Hi. I was just told today that I have to have the same procedure you just had. I, too, have been in braces for two years. Please keep posting. You are the newest case I've come across and I would love to follow your journey. I'd by lying if I said Ai wasn't scared. It's such an invasive procedure. Will I be happy? What If I'm not? How much swelling should I expect? Congrats on your surgery. I hope and pray that you are doing well!!

Hi, Im a little over a month post op. I also had my fears when considering undergoing this type of surgery. However, I am very happy I did it. The swelling wasnt too bad. My best friend the first week was my ice pack and sleeping upright was mandatory. Im still a little swollen and my upper cheeks are sore at the touch so I just dont touch them. Ive been icing my upper lip hoping it reduces some of the swelling . Its really irritating to me on some days and some days I forget its there. There is no pain and my ortho adjusted the wires 2 days ago. I also have to wear rubber bands at night for a good while. Feel free to ask me anything. Ill keep you updated on progress. Good luck on your journey!
