WORTH IT$2,000
So I have always hated how big my nose was. It has never seemed to fit my face. So I decided after I had lasik surgery to get my nose done. I first contacted Dr, Vitenas in Clear Lake, He is an excellent plastic surgeon and his estheticians do great facials. He quoted my $10,000 for a rhinoplasty and he informed me that I had a deviated septum.
I then followed up with a ENT specialist later that year due to my bags under my eyes and my poor allergies. Dr. Kevin Smith who also happened to be a plastic surgeon seemed like the next best option due to the fact that after my evaluation I was informed I had enlarged polyps in my nasal cavities. I could never really breath goo, but I just contributed that to the poor air in Houston.
Since my evaluation revealed that I needed the surgery as a medical procedure my insurance agreed to only cover the medical part; i.e. deviated septum, removal of polyps, opening of sinus passages, etc. Not the correction of my large nose.
Dr. Smith quoted me $7,000 for both the septoplasty and rhinoplasty. This did not included the surgical fees of the facility.
I also got 2 other opinions with Dr. Forrest Roth and Dr. Fred Bressler is an ENT-otolaryngologist. Dr. Roth referred me back to Dr. Smith.
I opted out of the rhinoplasty due to the fact I wanted to save my money to have my breast redone for my birthday. Most importantly I wanted to see how the septoplasty would take due to the fact Dr. Roth informed me tat it would help relieve the bags under my eyes.
I had the surgery March 17th. The healing process for the 1st week SUCKED... blood constantly drained down my throat. I also had to keep a huge bandage at the bottom of my nose. The plus side was that I lost 6lbs!!!!
The surgery really knocked me off my feet and kept me weak, but on the 5th day I was up and moving around.
It is now almost a month post op.The swelling has gone down, big chunks of crap in my nose is starting to stop draining. I found out that I had a cyst clocking my sinus passage the size of a very large grape along with the polyps. Also, Dr. Smith used a foam to pack my nose instead of gauze that I hear some surgeons use. The foam was great because it drained on it's own, and what didn't come out, Dr. Smith sucked out. I hear the gauze are really painful in removal when doctors use this method of packing the nose after surgery. I can now breath much better, and the bags have really started to go away. Before you could see them with and without makeup. Now they are barely there.
I recommend this surgery to anyone who suffers from allergies, snoring, and waking up tired all the time and not knowing my. I now sleep SOOOOO much better.

I've noticed a ton of gross drainage. Thick green and bloody chunks of mucus keeps coming from my nasal passages when I least expect it. Sometimes it's like a gun went off in my nose. Dr. Smith says the discharge is normal. I was clogged up for years. I can wear sun glasses without it hurting my nose this week for the first time since the surgery.
Other people keep telling me my nose looks smaller, I don't see it.

you look great.
With time, the nose will deflate to reveal it's contours (unless this is it--in which case, it's still a pretty nose and fits you well). Glad you're breathing better.
