Happy Thanksgiving
The extra pillows helped a lot and I did take one Vicodin at bedtime. Stitches are itchy and bruised. I am being a good girl keeping these binders on 24/7 but I can't say I love them. I just hope more swelling goes down and the drains have a low output so I can get this out soon. I suspect I will have the drain till Monday and I will go back to work Tuesday. Driving is uncomfortable because of binders and drains. No regrets just impatiently wanting this stage of healing to be done with already!
1 week since surgery
Incisions are feeling more bruised as time goes on. Night time is still tough as I wake up because my back hurts. I am going to try more pillows. I am also going to attempt to shower myself today. I know I need to still rest but I am hoping if I can shower, fix my hair and put on makeup I might start to feel more like me again. I'm also going to drive to the grocery store to pick up our thanksgiving dinner. I am only on Tylenol at this point so I should be ok. Maybe I can go get a pedi by the weekend. Right now my biggest hope is that I can get this drain out by Monday since I really don't want to work w the drain. I ordered a few loose dresses so I can be comfortable next week. The breasts are still swollen but very minimal discomfort. Overall I have been pleasantly surprised that the pain wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Just feeling bruised up and tired.
Progress! 6 days post op update
So today is officially 6 days post op and I had my first visit w the nurse since surgery. Breasts are still really swollen and I was told to keep that wrap on 24/7 except to shower. I have been but I think I was letting it be too low. The lymph area in the top is what needs the compression and I was also told to massage that area too. Incision looks really good from tt. I can stand straighter today. Also still a lot of swelling so I need to keep the wrap on tighter. The best was getting one of the drains out. It hurt a bit but not nearly as long or as bad as I thought. Still have 1 drain that will probably stay till Monday. My goal is to go back to work on Tuesday. Right now I am just fatigued and not sure how I can stay focused so pray for more recovery by then! I also am only takes ng tylenol now. Pain is not bad. My body just aches from walking hunched over and sleeping on my back. Overall my total pain has been way less than I expected. I will post new photos in a few days when the swelling goes down.
Provider Review
Dr Basu and his team are wonderful. Very professional, kind and helpful. He and his nurse both called and the nurse even gave me her cell and if I have any questions.
