Microblading, Panick Attacks, and Finally Loving my Brows

At the end of my microblading appointment, when I took the first glimpse of my brows in a mirror I almost cried right there. They were HUGE! I felt that they were so much bigger than what I had agreed to when we consulted and the Brow tech drew them out for me to approve. I paid and left the studio in a bit of shock. When I got home I started immediately researching ways to reverse the procedure and couldn’t really find anything. I started texting with my brow tech and she encouraged me to just stick to the after-care procedure. She assured me that my brows were swollen and the size would go down.
I did not sleep a wink that night. I was so mad at myself for “paying someone to ruin my face”. I was having borderline panic attacks. Of course over the next 4-5 days they just kept getting darker - I was aware this was supposed to happen but it was still hard to watch.
I cannot emphasize enough how upset I was!
Now...all that to say: after about 3 weeks I actually started liking them. The swelling DID go down as promised and they lightened significantly. I’m posting my story in case there is someone out there right now having a Microblading Panick Attack and searching the internet for hope. I was so sure that I was going to have to get bangs or wear a hat all the time. Emotionally I was in a terrible place at first. Seriously though, just give it time and follow your after-care instructions.
If you chose an experienced, highly trained, reputable brow artist, you likely will end up loving your brows. And on that topic: Do NOT get this done by someone who is inexperienced. Always check reviews and before and after pics.

My brow tech was unbelievable. She was there for me when I was panicking and was so patient. Many texts went back and forth and she was kind and compassionate. She is very skilled. I think I had unrealistic expectations of the healing process, swelling, etc. But in the end, my brows turned out fine.

Thank you! I had my eyebrows microbladed but when I went in for a touch up, we decided on the powder brows instead due to my Oiler skin. I almost cried too after she finished and I looked in the mirror because the brows were huge and so dark. I felt like Groucho Marx and have been having panic attacks for the past few days. I’m terrified that I’ll have to get bangs because I feel they’re so dark and uneven too. Thanks for your post..

Just got mine done today and I was having a microblading panic attack on my home and about 20 more afterwards. I too immediately was calling places if I could reverse what I had done lol! I am really relieved to hear that the swelling decreases & the colour lightens during/after healing. I’m a nurse, and I had a night shift after I got this done today... luckily I didn’t have to interact with too many patients but it was hard to chat with my colleagues without feeling like a complete fool. I wish I had known that I would look like this afterwards, during my research I didn’t see anyone posting photos of their horror post-microblading eyebrows :( !! Fingers crossed that they heal and I like them... I don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t!

The first part of your story is also mine. It’s just day 2 for me, so I’m still in panic mode with a baseball cap on!! Your story ends well so I’m gonna try to hide for a few days & ride it out. Wish I had left my brows alone

Microblading is an emotional roller coaster. I’m currently at day 4, filled with a lot of regret. But these posts give me hope.

I am day two post 4 week touch up. I knew what to expect, but when they were first done I did worry a bit... then the awful look when they flake. Then they looked great healed with a couple hole areas. Now I am day 2 post touch up and going through this all again... bit this time I know it will look great in about 3 weeks.... so now just waiting, keeping them dry and out of the sun.
