I have been dreaming about LASIK ever since I can...

I have been dreaming about LASIK ever since I can remember. Been wearing glasses since 7th grade and contacts since I was 14. Now at 31, I told myself enough was enough. My best friends wedding was May of this year and we were up at 5am getting ready with pictures to be taken by 8am. As the Maid of Honor I knew I would be busy until at 2 or 3am. I struggled with the idea of keeping my contacts in for that long....so, I decided I would wear my glasses and take them off for pictures and put back when needed until it was a good time to put on my contacts. I knew it would probably smudge my gorgeous makeup job but I could risk an eye infection. So that was it for me. I started saving and about 5 months later I had enough for the procedure. I chose Joffe medicenter in Houston from their great reviews and wonderful service they provided from the consultation. Even the amazing scent of the place was comforting. Everyone was super nice and I felt like I could trust them. A week before my scheduled procedure I ditched the contacts and could only wear glasses. The whole week I kept saying, after this no more glasses, you can do this! The day of my procedure I was super nervous. I had my bestie and my husband with me the whole time.
Chewed the Valium I was given and shortly after, entered "the room". The procedure lasted around 15 mins. I got up from the table with my eyes closed. In my head I said to myself, this is it! When you open your eyes everything will be clear....the doctor told me to open my eyes.....hmmmmm, why in the hell is everything so effing blurry still! Could it be that this didn't work on me???? How could everyone I've read about and spoke to have this crazy amazing vision right off the bat? Were they ALL lying?? I immediately started to secretly panic. Doctor said it's completely normal. Went home, fell asleep, woke up extremely hazy but could watch tv from my bed without any help. Next day went in for post op visit. I'm seeing 20/15 but still hazy and a little more blurry particularly when I'm inside or in dim light. Again, completely normal said the doctor. Umm ok...haven't heard of these results but I'll go with it. I am now 9 days post op and my vision that was 20/15 outside is now 20/40 and just so blurry unless a few feet in front of me. I am a server...at work I feel like I'm walking around blind. The headaches are ridiculous from the blurriness. I went back to the doctor yesterday and I need to give it a few more weeks to heal....who the hell walks around friggin blind like this??? Everyday I wake up and I pray is the day that my vision is clear. And everyday I'm soooo disappointed every time I open my eyes. My eyes hurt from the constant squinting. I can't believe this has happened. All that money and I'm still going to need glasses.

Hi Ashley, i aloso live in houston i went a doctor called kartic Kumar, UT physician, in medical center/downtown he told me that he can do the surgury but it is going to cost me 10,000 $ i hope your eyes will get better soon, i am reading through the posts for strabismus and i can see that some people are fasing problems. i dont really know but as i notice doctors here do not really care since they have insurance to cover theyr mistakes. i am thinking to do the surgury in india as i heard it cost 1500$. please keep us updates and wish you get better soon. cheers.

Your story is the exact same thing that's happened to me. My vision is supposedly 20/30. Everything still has a blur to it and I wake up hoping I can see today. They recently gave me contacts which hurt. They numbed my eyes just to put them in

Every person is different. Every eye is different. No two people heal the same. The higher your prescription, the more swelling you are going to have after surgery. The more you use your eyes after surgery the more swelling you are going to have. The more swelling you have, the blurrier and hazier your vision will be. You just had surgery ON YOUR EYES... SURGERY... Not a new pair of contacts, not some dilating drops, but ACTUAL CUT-YOUR-EYE-OPEN SURGERY. Healing takes time. The nicer you are to your eyes, the more quickly you will stabilize. There is no short-cut for this. You were likely told there was a certain percentage for regression. If you have in fact regressed and have some residual prescription, then in 3 - 6 months you can have an enhancement and you will see as well as expected... once you heal.

Hi are you talking about strabismus surgury? Or just a normal layzek surgery ?
January 23, 2015
This is standard Lasik surgery

This is a thread about Lasik... NOT strabismus
