WORTH IT$1,800
I have Poly-cystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS) which created horrible hair growth in the chin and neck area, I recently decided to undergo LHR. So far, I am very thrilled with the results. My only concern is I hope the dark scarring from past ingrown hair will fade away. Any recommendations to removing the dark marks will be greatly appreciated.

It will fade. I have the same problem as you, but haven't "officially" been diagnosed with PCOS done I don't have polycystic ovaries, but have most of the other symptoms, including the hairiness.
I used to be a constant plucker and would dig out the ingrown hairs, which left a lot of hyperpignetation and it looked like I had 5 o'clock shadow in some areas. I've done 5 treatments so far and the darkness has decreased a LOT. I've been told that the last helps some with the darkness, but I'm not sure about that.
There is still some there, but I'm sure that will fade in time and I plan on getting some light chemical peels to help died along the process.
Exfoliation or even lightening creams like hydroquine would help too.
You will see for yourself in time that it will fade!

It's great! I remember I tried to get LHR done years ago and it didn't work at all. I'm so glad the lasers are now more affective and can treat darker skin tones now. I've gotten my face and now am working on my underarms and bikini. I want to EVERYTHING lol

Hi I have read you post and am experiencing excess hair growth on my neck lip and chin area

There are a couple of them. The ones I know about are Cutera Coolglide or GentleYag. I have found usually the place will tell you right away if they can't treat you because if skin color, but in any case make sure to ask to see results pictures of past patients of color.

Also, I would check your hormones with your doctor because if they are off, then the hair will start to grow again after you've gotten it removed.

I am being treated with the yag laser. I am also on metformin for hormone imbalance due to pcos.

lol, I understand the urge to want to clear it all lol. My next improvement will be a breast reduction. I am currently reading reviews for the best options.

I started LHR today and I'm
Praying for good results. I haven't officially been diagnosed with PCOS but I have a lot of the symptoms .
My derm gave two skin creams for the dark spots on my face and neck that I've been using for about 4 weeks . A lot of my face dark spots is ingrown hair .
The fade cream is Hydro Q and I can tell a difference . The other is Desonate which keeps my irritation , inflammation and flareups down. I think it's stopping the ingrown hair areas from getting so bad. I will continue to use them thru the next 3-4 LHR treatments and I hope the combination offers great results

You look great and I am so happy for you! I had a lot of dark marks on my cheeks from years of using benzoyl peroxide for acne. I stopped using the BP, but still had some marks so I started doing regular salicylic acid peels and my marks are now gone. You can buy SA peel gel online at Amazon for about $20 a bottle which lasts for months. Try this for your marks it is cheap and you can do it at home every few weeks for about 2-5 mins per peel or whatever your tolerance level is. Good luck!

Photo update: LHR on African American Skin
I wanted to post an updated picture of my LHR in natural lighting. I was in my car today and just couldn't believe how great the 1st treatment is so far. This has refuel my self-esteem. I no longer feel like people are staring at my facial hair. I no longer have the urge to pluck, shave, or pile on makeup to cover blemishes.

I got my first laser hair removal done last week, and I am so excited, usually I have to shave every day, but not i can go a day without shaving after just one laser session.
I have pcos also, I am currently on metformin, birth control and spironolactone to help lower my male hormones. I too have lots of dark spots left on my chin from shaving, i recently bought some hydroquinone to help lighten the spots along with some at home chemical peel to help.
I am due for my next session in 3 weeks and i am so excited, the laser treatment didn't hurt at all.
I just can't wait to be hair free.

I would just like to say that I am SO THRILLED to have come across your posting. I too, am African American, with PCOS and suffering through the same fate as you initially were. I've wanted laser hair removal for an extremely long time but have been terrified about my skin potentially being damaged due to my darker complexion. However, your results and photos made me feel so inspired, and especially knowing where you got yours done helped me to do research and feel content in trying it out for myself. This will totally boost my confidence and change my life in so many ways (assuming all goes well), so I am uber excited about it! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing! For anyone reading this, Ideal Image is currently having a 70% off promotion of laser hair removal, just thought I would share!
