let me start by telling you a little about my self ...i am a mother of two beautiful little girls and have been married for 3 years together 4 years....i have been over weight all my life but was in the low 200s through out elementry ,middle, and high school ...i am currently at my heaviest at a whopping 300 even lbs and i have tried everything to lose the weight.... before falling pregnant with our first i had lost 50lbs in one month extreme dieting ...not a healthy diet ill be honest ... and i gained it back with our first pregnancy and shortly after 6 month i fell pregnant again (contraceptives failed) and had our 2nd child during both pregnancy up until labor i weighed in at 311 at the end of both pregnancies ..both c sections ...since then it has been a difficult road for me to lose that weight....so that leads me to were i am today and have decided to go through with the gastric sleeve to help give me that boost...so far my insurance doesnt require me to meet certain criterias but the clinic has a couple which is for all patiences ...physc eval.... EGD....see the nutritionist which is $50 out of pocket ....and lab work ....i have completed 3 of the 4 but im on hold for the eval since i will have to pay that out of pocket which is around $460 ..and right now im in the process of moving to Missouri but will travel back to houston for everything ...and i will be paying $2500 out of pocket with $500 deductable which is included in the $2500....insurance covers 80% of total cost leaving me with 20% out of pocket expenses ..

I live in Houston and had my gastric bypass on 12/12/14. Started at 234 and size 2x. Am now 122 and size 4. I have loose skin that needs to be removed and I will probably lose another 8 - 10 lb. from that. Am very happy with my results. Good luck to you.

Hi that's great news and gives me confidence ...I would love just to get back to the low 200 s or even 180 ...I'm fine with a little thickness ..but right now being at the weight i am right now it is hard to be or have confidence in myself ...I want to be able to do all activities with my children and not be able to struggle because of weight issues ...I know i can do this ...it's a road I am willing to take to boost my self asteem and feel comfortable in my own skin again

Congratulation! I'm 28, 436 lbs. I have individual insurance which doesn't cover bariatric surgery. Everywhere I hear of ppl being able to get their insurance to cover has group insurance through their job. If you don't mind me asking how were you able to cover the cost of your procedure?

3Amanda17 Hello and welcome to realself. First I have to say you have a very good looking family and those 2 little girls are gorgeous little angels. I live in Missouri and wondered where you will be moving to because if you don't have a doctor to do your surgery I can recommend my surgeon to you. He is one of the best around here. Just let me know. You can private message me on here. Good luck on your move to Missouri and good luck on your weight lose journey. Hugs

Thank you so much ...I had chosen to go ahead to do the procedure in houston due to my insurance ...how is your journey coming along

I meant to tell you that you could save yourself some out of pocket money if you decide to use my doctor here in Missouri because he is cheaper then your doctor which would make your out of pocket less. I am not trying to be pushy just trying to help save you some money if you are interested. My total surgery is costing $5,000 and that includes the hospital and I have to pay 20 percent co-pay which is $872.00 of the $5,000. Hugs

Hi ...thank you for your reply...I would have done it here if location was closer since I had bcbs of tx ...I would of still had to travel but just for surgery I had to pay 2104.60 includes hospital stay ..which I had to pay 50% down ...also another 125 for physician fee...

...so from last time I had some requirements from the clinic I was going to in which I had completed 3 of 4 ...well I finally did my eval yesterday which I did have to pay out of pocket ... $450 ...now i have hopped on the wagon which at the moment isn't going anywhere ..we have started the waiting game on insurance approval...I won't hear anything from my clinic until Monday to see if they have received the results and then gather everything together to send off to my insurance provider ...I'm hoping to shoot for the month of April but after our daughters first birthday ...I'm excited but nervous all at the same time. ..I will be traveling back to houston for my pre op and surgery since I will be moving to Missouri this week and it will be easier on me since my mother will be helping me with our girls...crossing my fingers

Well I had to take a step back before they can process everything over to insurance ...I found out that i need to take 2 more sessions...on another note I am am currently living in Missouri ..so I had to find someone to finish off the 2 sessions I need and transfer everything back to houston tx...it took time but I finally found someone and did my 1 session which I paid out of pocket $ 130...I will have my last session on the 17th and everything will be sent off to the clinic staff to send off to my insurance for review...I am excited but at the same time nervous because it seem like it's going fast...
