I had fractora done after describing my issues...
I had fractora done after describing my issues with hyperpigmentation and scarring during my teen years with acne, and issues with dark chin hair. I also mentioned the issues I had had with any type of laser treatment to my face.
Fractora was recommended to me as the best option to achieve my goals, so I decided to do it. I was told I may swell a little and would be a little red for a few days. Most people were fine with just numbing cream.
My experience was the most traumatic and panic inducing thing I have ever been through. Numbing cream alone was NOT enough. The surgeon was running late and was told the assistant was qualified to do it also. I could wipe off the cream and leave or let her. So I did. BIG mistake. First red flag was when she had to bring in the instruction manual to operate the machine. She then cranked it up to the highest level, even though my dr had decided to try it at lowest level due to my skin issues.
When they got close to any nerve, It was like being electrocuted. My whole face would jerk. I didnt know which pulses would be tolerable and which would send me straight to intense crying.. and I was told it was for the greater good. The dr. finally showed up.. his technique and knowledge were definitely better but I was near panic attack at this point. Due to the issues with the nerve sensitivity I was unable to continue treatment around my mouth area, which was part of why I originally wanted to procedure, because this was supposed to treat fine lines and scarring.
The pic is immediately after treatment, and then 48 hours later, on Christmas day. I had intense itching, abnormal level of edema/swelling that started with the lower half of my face, and then moved to the upper, where my eyes were so swollen I could barely see.
Its now 2 weeks later, and my swelling has mostly gone, but you can still see every single spot where the needles went i to my skin, they are raised and I look like I slept on a pin cushion. My skin looks absolutely terrible. I will never ever do this again. I do not know how they do this with "a little numbing cream". Do your research and get the nerve block, valium and the pain med too.
