This is kind of a delayed review, but I feel the need to do it...

After massive weight loss, I researched for over 2 years on who to have complete my body contouring. My story is a bit different; my husband's first wife passed after a very common procedure (not plastics), so I was going to do everything in my power not to let this happen to him again. In short, I wasn't just looking for a plastic surgeon for me, I was looking for a plastic surgeon for the spouse of my husband and the mother of my children. It puts things in a different perspective.

I read and researched and researched and narrowed down and emailed numerous patients of different plastic surgeons until I ended up with one name. I knew practically every answer of his on RealSelf plus ObesityHelp and probably knew his website better than him. :)

It all came down to three main criteria:

1. Skill of surgeon
2. Safety concerns of surgeon
3. Personal character of surgeon

Dr. Lomonaco was on the top of all three. I could have traveled anywhere for the surgeon and ended up traveling about 4000 miles.

My first surgery consisted of a LBL plus BL. Five months later, I had a medial thigh lift, arm lift, side of chest lift and small BA. I am very happy with the skill and follow through of Dr. L.

I also have to add that his staff was fantastic, especially Destiny, who was right there when I went into surgery and Stacey, who was there for all follow up appointments.

I am from a very small town and a private person, so I am not adding photos, but if anyone has any questions, especially for traveling and staying in the Houston area, please feel free to contact me.

Mary, I would like more info, please. After losing about 150 pounds, I am now needing help. Is there any means of sending private messages here? I just started my research and am new to the whole PS thing. Thanks for any help you can give me. Susie
I'll private message you and we can chat. :)
Hi Mary could you private message me as well? I have been looking into Dr. LoMonaco and I have some questions.

Thanks !
Sure! Will do that right now :)
Can you address the level of pain you experienced from your LBL and how long you were off work? How long was it really bad?
Thanks!
There was none...literally. He puts done type of numbing pain pump in during surgery that covers the entire abdominal region. I didn't even use half of what I could have while at the hospital. It was a bit uncomfortable to be hunched over a bit for a few days after surgery. I used a rolling walker for the first few days. I just took pain pills per schedule once out of the hospital and weaned to Extra Strength Tylenol after the first 5 or so days. I had so many pain pills left over that I had more than enough for my next surgery 6 months later.

I flew in from out of town and stayed 2 weeks; I probably could have left after 10 days. It was good to be there, though, for followup appointments. I was getting a bit stir crazy, so was cleaning the rental I stayed at even though I had a cleaning person :)

You could probably go back to work in two weeks, but I would give yourself three if you could.

Dr. L. is very good and conscientious. He will take good care of you if you decide to go with him, I have no doubt.

Take care. Feel free to private message me if you need info on staying in the area, services I used, etc.
I would love to have your referrals as I will be traveling in from another state - Missouri. What do your scars look like? Are they fading nicely and placed where they remain covered in swimsuits, etc? Did your buttocks flatten out terribly badly?
I will private message you regarding housing and nursing care info.

Re: scars, yes, they are fading nicely and can be covered with bikini bottoms.

I did not have the augmentation to my buttocks. Dr. L. thought it wasn't worth the minimal benefit I would get from it because I was basically all skin, no fat to lipo and that "my butt wasn't that flat anyways". I kind of laughed inwardly when he said that, and kept a straight face, thinking....did he just say I had a big butt? Lol. But I appreciated his honesty in telling me the cost vs. benefit was really not worth it.
Pictures,please
I'm sorry. As I wrote in my review, I'm a private person and won't be posting pictures of my body. There are several other reviews here of Dr. L.'s work that have included photos.
Hi Mary, Thank you for your review. I am considering LoMonaco and another surgeon for a post weight-loss LBL. I've consulted with LoMonaco and need to schedule the other surgeon. My concern is the scarring. What does your scar look like? Is it jagged, high and low, or is it one nice, neat line, very thin? How did your scar heal? Thank you in advance for your feedback.
