32 Year Old Male Open Rhinoplasty, Chin Implant, Septoplasty, Turbinate Reduction

I have a vivid memory of the first time I, as a child, noticed my upturned and large nostrils which did not fit my face and have been self conscious of this ever since. In my twenties, the nose which was short, wide and up turned to begin with started to deviate the right and bothered me greatly in pictures taken of me. The functional aspect of deviated septum was adverse as well, where my left nostril was less than adequate in breathing, especially when exercising. The Right nostril compensated heavily and became uneven and flared. Sinus headaches from bad drainage was also common. I also was bothered by somewhat receded chin especially on side profile, which became more disconcerting as the aging process put on some extra weight to my jaw and cheeks, which looked more prominent in contrast to my chin.
I selected Dr Funk based on his before and after pics, great reviews on realself, his volume of nose jobs each year and his credential as both ENT and Facial Plastics Surgeon. We were on the same page from the get go with regards to wanting natural looking improvement to improve balance of the facial aesthetics as a whole.
During the procedure, he brought in the nostrils about a cm on each side, brought in nasal bones and cartilage on either side, and extended the tip with septal graft but kept the bridge height same. The deviated septum was also corrected and turbiantes were reduced. For the Chin, a silastic anatomical implant that is somewhat large but not too prominent was placed from external approach directly in front of the chin to add the much needed volume to side profile.
The surgery was successful and the results are beyond expectation and amazing. Only small complication or side effect is some numbness on the right side of the chin below the lip and at the chin that is slowly improving. The recovery was amazingly easier than I expected, and since the nose was not packed and no internal splints were used, the discomfort that was ascribed to them was removed. There was also no bruising for me thanks to Arnica tablets provided and precautions I followed before surgery like no alcohol, no nsaids, no tea, no vitamins etc. The swelling and nose bleeding were the worst on the day after surgery and resolved to minimum by day 3-4 and became unnoticeable by day 5-6. The external sutures and cast came off on day 6, and I was free to go in public without making anyone aware of the surgery by at day 6. The two side effects that were uncomfortable are pain med induced constipation/bloat and antibiotic induced nausea/weakness, which could have been avoided if I ate but I had no appetite till a week after.
At 2 weeks post-op, I am extremely satisfied with both procedures, and highly recommend Dr Funk to anyone considering Facial plastic surgery in Houston Metropolitan area.
