I looked on this site for years and researched several doctors before finally scheduling my surgery with Dr. Cortez. I originally had a consultation with him in August of 2014 but due to some family emergencies I didn't schedule my surgery. This February I go back for an additional consultation so I can schedule the surgery. Red flag #1 the price went up over $3000. They told me that the hospital and anesthesia fees went up in 2015 etc. He also was no longer including lipo of the arms in the quote. I ended up paying the $500 deposit and scheduling surgery to get a breast lift with implant, lipo to the upper and lower abdomen, upper and lower back and flanks, tummy tuck and fat transfer to the hips. I had my surgery April 28th. I arrived and Dr. Cortes was on time, he marked me up and I went back for surgery. During recovery I was in a lot of pain and my left breast was swelling a lot. My recovery nurse dismissed it and gave me more pain meds. Finally another nurse came to look at me and decided to call the dr back. I had to go back into surgery for a hematoma and got a drain in my left breast and had the two under my incision from the tummy tuck. I stayed the night and was released the next afternoon. My first follow up was the following Monday. I arrive to the office to find out they moved and not one person called or emailed to tell me. I finally get a hold of someone who gives me the new address and the Dr isn't even there for my first follow up. The nurse pulls the drains out, puts me in a smaller garment and sends me home. I schedule my next follow up for the next week. Dr Cortes was at my second follow up and it was here that he told me my incisions were infected and I was having the worst reaction to sutures he has ever seen. He asked why I didn't call to mention it. First I did call but kept getting a recording that would just keep brining me back to the main menu. Second it was covered in purple glue and I didn't know what looks normal or not. Had he been at my initia follow up this might have been caught sooner. They cut out my stitches and scraped all of my incisions. I had to come back twice a wee for two weeks then weekly the. Biweekly for the next two months as my incisions tried to close and all of my stitches came to the surface and had to be removed. I received kenalog shots in my abdomen for fluid that was sitting on my left side. I also had to have a kenalog shot to my belly button as it started to close up. I have a burn mark on my back and have been left with an uneven and lumpy abdomen. I will also need scar revision later due to the issues with the sutures. I'll post pictures soon.
