Swelling, swelling go away....
DogsweetkittyJuly 27, 2014
WORTH IT$14,000
Aargh. ..Swelling!
I have had persistent swelling on the lower 2/3 of my bridge and my tip which made it appear to be big, bulbous and hooked--- grrrrr... Swelling!
Because of the swelling ( Grrr ...swelling!) I had developed scar tissue on my bridge. Nice. At my two month follow up Dr Pastorek gave me a kenalog -10 injection on my bridge and tip; which was about three weeks ago. It has helped A LOT. But I will need to go back five weeks from now for more. Aargh. I'm at least happy there is something non -surgical that can help it. And am also grateful that Dr. Pastorek listened to me and validated my concerns about the appearance of my nose but was also not concerned about it. He called me one of his "six- eight monthers" in terms of the healing and swelling going down.
It is sooo hard to be patient!!! ...Waaah!!

Great results! What a difference! Truly beautiful and so natural. Of course, you still have a lot of healing to do, but I say , if it never changes, its still a gorgeous nose!

Thanks!! It's funny--I started to be critical about it - too wide, tip too big - and then told myself to calm down ( calm way down) - it's only been a few days!! LOL. So critical!!
Thanks for your kind words of encouragement because in the end I am much happier -even today as it is -than I ever was with my old nose :) yay!!

I know what you mean. I keep taking little peeks when I change my drip tray and while I'm just happy to see my nose be much shorter than it was before, a part of me is freaking out "I wonder how the bridge looks!" "The tip is too wide" etc. But then, all it takes me is to look at my before pictures, and I think to myself - it can't look worse than before and thats all I'm really hoping for :)

It sounds terrible doesn't it but I think that's the right expectation to have when it comes to rhinoplasty :) I have had a few people say they can't tell....Which bothered me at first...
( what! ... I don't look like Ashley Simpson?!)... but then I look at those before pictures- and I am VERY happy again!!! I see the big change and the biggest being I am not self conscious anymore.

Your new nose is so adorable! I love the before/after pics...I have to admit, my favorite pic/caption is the one where you talk about your doc telling you it went from a size 8 to a size 4! :)
Thank you for sharing your story, your pictures. And, thank you for the support and advice as well. :)

Pictures before- during- still on progress...
DogsweetkittyMay 1, 2014
Thought I would add some pictures --even though my nose is still really swollen --I am so excited about my new nose!! dr Pastorek said it will go down " two sizes" so there will be much more definition than we see now and it won't be so wide. I am only one day post cast in the last picture!! The second to last was an hour after the cast was removed! In the cab from his office. It was so weird to see myself and I am still excited --can't wait for swelling to go down but I know I have to be patient!! But is hard!!

You look awesome. Congratulations! Happy for you. I am 5 weeks post op but mine was a revision. My nose is still swollen and healing. Overall I am happy with my results. Thanks for sharing your story.

Dr. Kofi Boahene did my revision. Btw, my results are also natural like yours!

Thanks. The good news is that the final result is going to look better as my nose is still got tons of swelling. Thanks for your kind words.

A Pastorek patient, yay! Pastorek is one of my top choices, as he has a very respected reputation among his peers, but I've never been able to see pictures of his results because he doesn't post any on his website. Finally, a patient who is generous enough to share pics! You look great already and I'm so excited to follow your progress! Thanks for posting! This is tremendously helpful!
Also, one question: when you consulted with him, did he have a lot of pictures to review in his office?
May 2, 2014
Hi peanut 7- I know it is so frustrating trying to make the final decision! He does have pictures in his office and yes, lots of them He showed them to me on his computer. He was very enthusiastic about it. He is very into the artistry and proportion of his work which I really respected and in the end, it was what made me go with him. I felt like I was trusting him to sculpt my face as well as his obvious surgical skills. He will also show you in your consult what your result will look like by using tips to lift your nostrils inside your nose. I know. Sounds weird! But I really thought it was great. He also used a pencil to cover my hump. It was a great visual. I think better than imaging. I am so glad you found my pictures helpful!!

yes, i hear great things and i love the fact that he doesn't even do marketing--he rests on word of mouth and referral which is really refreshing in this era of unqualified docs who use manipulative self-promotion to stir up business. My only worry is Pastorek's age. He is 75 now, I believe, and I worry about dexterity and details at that age Did you feel he was still "with it"? And also, I see that you listed 14,000 as the price. Is that correct?
May 2, 2014
The best way for me to describe him to you is to say he is elegant; He has a very calm demeanor. I took his age to be a badge of his experience and breadth of knowledge. When they booked my consult he was just coming back from speaking at a plastic surgery thing in Germany. He is definitely older - but I would NEVER think of him as elderly -if that makes sense-i think there is a big difference. While waiting for my surgery I saw younger surgeons coming in and out. They seems sort of arrogant ( maybe just me) but it made me really happy that I was about to go into surgery with Pastorek and not one of them because he is well over having it all be about him: It was about me. :)
On my cost. For me his fee was 12,500 I had rhinoplasty, septoplasty. I think the anesthesia was 1000 and the manhattan eye ear fee was about 1000 for facility fee. So that's 14500. Plus his consult was 350$ additional.
Let me know if you have any other questions peanut7.

Oh. And one more quick thing that really impressed me with regard to the details. When I was having my cast off. I was talking to his amazing nurse about him. She was very effusive in her admiration of his attention to each patients case. She told me that he stays late and reviews each case before surgery days and really knows and studies ( he also called me that night too) each one so that he is thoroughly prepared . She has been with him for twelve years. She then showed me my drawing he had done. It was very detailed plan of my nose and what he was going to do.
I had heard so many horror stories on all the boards of people going into surgery and feeling like the doctor had no idea what they had discussed at the consult and getting a completely different result- there is absolutely no worry of that with Pastorek. I liked that A LOT!i would have freaked out if I was waiting for surgery and felt like my surgeon didn't know me...also. No worries that he's out late partying:)
