Hey ladies! Just wanted to get your input for those who got their BA incision under the armpit

$7,800
What was you or your doctors reason for choosing the incision under the armpit. I'd like to get your feedback because the PS I chose feels that's the best place for the implant entry.

It gives the most natural appearance. No scars around the nipper or under the breast. I've had mine doNE transaxillary as well and 1 month later I can barely notice anything. It heals like just the folds under your arm.
Thank you so much. That's good to know. I didn't come across anybody on RS that went under the armpit.
I had a hard time finding anyone on here with transaxillary too. I don't know why anyone would do it the other way when it leaves scars.
Very true!
So my doctor picked my incision type (under breast) and I'm glad I let him because when I went in for revision he told me he would have to go in under the breast regardless of where my original incision was. He also told me based on my tissue he wouldn't recommend it. My scar isn't really visible and it's not like I'm trying to keep it a secret from my husband. Going in under breast also reduces risk of capsular contraction. You get whatever you and your doctor think is right for you :)
Thank u! I appreciate ur input:)
This is true. I guess for some people placement is easier when going under the breast.
If your doctor has more experience and a preference for a certain incision, go with that. Asking the doctor to do something, with which they are less familiar might not get the best result.

The implants are easier to place with the inframammary incision. The inframammary incision would be better for a teardrop shaped implant because the placement has to be precise. The drawback will always be the scar. The transaxillary incision hides the scar better.

I have inframammary scars which are taking a long time to fade. I wanted teardrop implants. I accept that I have to be patient about the scars.
Yes for sure.
Is there a reason why ur PS went with the inframammary incision?
Thank you for sharing ur experience =]
I had inframammary incision because I have anatomical (teardrop) implants. The implant is thinner at the top and fuller at the bottom. It has to be placed in exactly that position or it would look strange. Teardrop implants are also firmer. With inframammary incision, the incision is closer to the site of the breast. Imagine trying to push a firm implant through the armpit, placing it under the breast and making sure that it does not rotate during the process.

If the implant was round, there is no top or bottom end because it is a circle. A circle can rotate and look the same in any position. If you go transaxillary, the surgeon can squeeze the implant through the armpit and position it without worrying about rotation.
Ahhh got it. TY
I heard it has a higher risk to go through the armpits since the armpit can have bacteria which you don't want to get onto the implants. Any bacteria increases the risk of CC.
I just had a BA on May 6. My doctor actually went along the outter line of my areola. I was really freaked out when he suggested this because there was just something about it that seems so weird!! I'm so glad he talked me into it! It hasn't even been a month yet and my scars are already not visible they blend right in! Also, it really was nice with healing because it wasn't where the bottom of your bra would rub (under the breast) it was in the perfect place. Then I only had to worry about one place for healing and that was just my boobs of coarse! Also my PS said when he's over top the pocket working rather than having to reach around it is much more natural looking and he was so right it makes the placement that much easier/better! Good luck it is still fresh in my mind if you have any other questions ☺️
Best of luck to you! Just had mine and I'm 48 hrs post op. I had 475 cc Mentor shaped cohesive gel implants. Inframmary incision. Be sure you have a full time caretaker for the first 5 days. Pain is a lot more than I expected, but I'm happy with my results.

Went for my 2nd consultation

Although I didn't get to visit with the Dr himself. His patient coordinator is the bomb! I spent an hour or more in her office. She was very thorough. We went over all the questions and concerns that I had. They also offer an overnight stay. I chose that of course. I felt that being with the medical staff following my BA would be best for me. I don't want to depend on anyone once I get home. Hard head yes! Stubborn yes! Very independent YES!!!! I've ALWAYS been the caretaker I'm my household. I wouldn't know how to act, having someone take care of me. I do plan on taking a week off of work. With that being said, somebody better step up to the plate and learn how to cook a turkey because I'll still be healing....during Thanksgiving week that is.
I welcome and appreciate any feedback from u lovely RS ladies!

The 400 cc sizers look great on you!
Thank you! That's probably what I'll end up with. Implant size will be 415- 450 cc's.
The sizers look great but would recommend going 25-50 cc more because they will be smaller when under the muscle. I'm totally the same way with not liking to be taken care of. This surgery I throughly cleaned the house and set it up so I could do almost everything myself. Come surgery time make sure you remove things you'll need from top cabinets and request easy open caps for medicines. One thing that was a nice bonding experience for my husband and I that I didn't feel uncomfortable with is he helped me with a bath and to put my bras and shirts on. I'd schedule a hair appointment or just a shampoo at super cuts or a blow bar since lifting your arms is hard and you will feel like a T. rex. A week is the perfect amount of time for recovery. Looking forward to following your journey :)
Thank you! Yes I totally agree, my implant size will be 450 cc's. I hear ya on the house cleaning. A shampoo sounds like a wonderful idea. I can't wait for my journey to begin! TY!!!!
I'm excited for you, I think you will be super happy with your results. Good luck and I will stay tuned for updates.
I'm going to buy a weeks worth of prepared meals from Iavarrone for my husband and me. HE will have to step up to the plate and care for me that week!
Hey whatever works lol!!
Yes he sure does:))
