I have wanted to get my breasts done for years.....

I have wanted to get my breasts done for years.. and many of the women on this site understand what I mean. Things went terribly wrong around 2 weeks post op, and it has been nothing but a nightmare ever since. I haven't gotten any for sure answers, or reassurance from my surgeon. I had to switch to a new plastic surgeon to get an actual diagnosis. I have stage 4 capsular contracture, and this is all started two weeks post op. Doctors time and time again tell you that you cannot get CC this early on post op. But I did, my surgeon did not use drains and there is blood surrounding my implant. Which is the number one cause of capsular contracture. Like I said, my surgeon would not admit this to me. I had to speak to other board certified plastic surgeons to get the answers I deserved. Sad, and true. Now I am stuck with the reality, and the bill.

Drains are not normally used for an augmentation...only for reductions or very occasionally extensive lifts. Also, blood around the implant is a hematoma, and .most of those resolve completely after being drained by the physician. Are you sure your information is correct?

Yes my physician didn't drain my hematoma. He just left it to be.

That's terrible. Seems like poor practice, and I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope you can have some kind of resolution where he is penalized in some fashion. Reporting him to the American Medical Association and to the Board of Plastic Surgeons might be a start, as well as demanding all of your medical records and mentioning a lawsuit if he doesn't make it right....

Thank you. It has been such a nightmare for me and my family.

Have you spoken to these Board Certified PSs in person and been examined? Or just online? And the main cause of CC isn't blood...it's bacteria hitching a ride into your capsule on the implant as a result of poor surgical technique.

I have spoke to them in person and been examined. Actually bacteria and blood are both pretty much a sure way to get CC. I didn't post this to get criticized. It's my body of course I got examined multiple times.

Just making sure. And an UNTREATED hematoma can cause it, like you said, but I hadn't realized that he didn't drain it. Because any PS worth his salt would have. It didn't add up. But now I know that your doctor didn't fix it immediately like most other docs would've. Sorry.... It's a real shame, too, because it is so easily fixed!!

Dr. Jeff Healy

Dr. Jeff Healy was the plastic surgeon. He didn't want to make the situation right despite the overwhelming amount of evidence that my hematoma could've been fixed and all of this tragedy could've been fixed much faster. Instead I had to go to another surgeon and have two revisions done to attempt to repair the damages. At the least a patient would expect an apology and a refund. Instead I got a nasty email from her insulting my pre op breasts & family. Sad.

2 weeks after my revision

Two weeks ago I had my revision to fix the capsular contracture in my right breast. Surgery went great, and the healing was very smooth! My surgeon is very knowledgable about how to treat capsular contracture, and prevent it from happening again. This really helped to put my mind at ease. :-)

With my previous surgeon I had never gone through any time of plastic surgery process so I didn't know what to expect. Having gone through with the revision with my new surgeon I am now seeing the differences in a good surgeon and a great surgeon. My new doctor is so thorough on the entire process, and takes every step to make sure things go as planned. It feels refreshing to have someone that treats you like a person instead of just another patient.

My surgeon told me after surgery that he had removed the entire capsule, and it was much thicker than he had anticipated. He also showed me some of the gross leftover blood he cleaned out from the untreated hematoma that had initially caused my capsular contract. I remember after I woke up he told me that had I given him permission he would have fixed a few things on my left breast as well. At the time I didn't really understand. I knew that I wasn't thrilled with the outcome of my left breast, but I didn't understand what he meant it needed fixing. It turns out that my suspicions were true, and there are issues with my left breast as well. It is bottoming out, and I will now need a 2nd revision surgery. To most people this would seem terrible, but with my surgeon ( Dr. Schlesinger here in Hawaii) I have no worries at all. I know he will makes things right for me. He has taken my nightmare, and turned it into a learning experience. I trust him with my life, and he just knows the ins and outs of the entire process so well that I know he will fix my previous surgeons mistakes and I will eventually have the breasts I wanted.

I am so saddened by this entire process. I was just a normal woman wanting to have her breasts done. I saved up my money like a normal person, did research and though I had decided on a reputable surgeon. Unfortunately when things went wrong, he didn't perform the way you would expect a doctor who looked you in the eye and told you he would give you beautiful results to perform.

I didn't do anything wrong, and all I can do is thank god I found Dr. Schlesinger. He is making things right for me. I hope I can soon be back to my normal, active self.
